Default Bottom end...........

I have a spare bottom end which im going to rebuild, it seems in good health, no damage to tops of pistons and i turned it over via a spanner on the bottom pulley, smooth but with abit of friction which im told is ok ! Im just looking into what it will cost to rebuild, has anybody done it recently, and is it worth having the tops of the pistons shaved to lower the compression, lighting and balacing it, has anyone got any advice please.

Id like to run around 200bhp

They aren't cheap - low compression pistons are available in forged only - and start at around £600.

They really aren't needed until past 250hp.

£600 ish.

You can skim - but it weakens the piston. You can keep the std compression for 250hp or so.
