Default Fuel computer accuracy

Hello people, just wondering how accurate fuel computers are as mine
has been giving out strange readings such as miles left in the tank and average economy mainly. When I fuel up does not make much diff to the said miles in the tank until after driving it for a while then starts to change.
Seems a bit slow in taking up readings recently. Been doing lot of town driving if makes much sense. Not too concerned if fuel computer is not working properly. Car is a S2 Turbo. Tks all help.

British rail is more accurate than one of those fuel/trip computers

Honestly, i reckon i could vouch for 80% of the peeps on here that they get binned in favour of mounting a boost guage there instead
