Default Budget Zetec turbo

Right here goes

I just got me a 2.0 Mondeo, And I need it turbo'd CHEAP as I need to get my S2 on the road.. Dont care if its not reliabe, If it'll blow a standard piston or push a rod through the block... I just need to get it on the road then i'l build a decent spec ZT for it I may sound like im going backwards, but I dont care... need it moving!

Im going to use a De-comp plate, 200sx Tubluar manifold, (Ebay £150 job!) going to have to be a custom inlet (its RWD) BUT

Turbo will be a T34 from a cossie
What injectors?
What loom?
What management, Thinking L8..? can get ECU's for £200
Intercooler is sorted - triple cossie ones
Gearbox will be a T5
Will it need a breather for about 200/220bhp?
what plugs?
What clutch?
What flywheel?
What pump?

Anything you can think of please add with prices IF possible!

Cheers

If your looking at a cheap Zetec turbo, i dont thing the above is the cheapest way IMO.

this is the sort of Zetec turbo i was going to build on a budget.

2.0l zetec
Skimmed pistons (or de-comp plate)
Fiesta RS turbo inlet (EFI) or Standard EFI early zetec manifold with rover injector rail
escort RST exhuast manifold
ERST T3 turbo
Fiesta RST Managment and loom
saff cossie intercooler

that IMO is a cheap zetec turbo build, but it wont be able to take to much boost. looking at around 7 to 10 psi.

saab 9000 CSE front intercooler fits the mondeo quite well. if its got aircon it will be in the way of the FMIC.

would need to know if its a silvertop or blacktop zetec.

mine is a blacktop and in a nutshell has RS1800 inlet, turbo technics cvh exhaust manifold with nissan T28 flange welded on and downpipe chopped and modded to suit (very very doubtful you could use a nissan mani, the mondeo downpipe route is an arse), skyline injectors, decomp plate, ceramic coated pistons, megasquirt. RS turbo crossover pipe, which fits on my mk1 mondeo but on a mk2 it hits the bonnet so needs a bit of bonnet chopping.

it goes like stink!

best to put battery in the boot or you get heatsoak on the induction.

see www.zetec-turbo.com

you need to talk to luke89

i asume your going rear wheel drive, as in its going n your escort,

what luke did is got an erst manifold, driled and tapped the head, then fitted the erst manifold, then bought to flanges and a 90 degree bend pipe and welded them all together so that it upswept the tubo to sit upright, the bonus of this is you can convert to any flage you need, plus you can move the turbo to where ever you like,

skinned pistons melt quick, decomp plate is better imo, and good for a held 14-15psi,

clutch and flywheel, you need an 1800cvh fly wheel from a seirra and an rsturbo clutch.

management, just go straight for squirt, as iirc the fiesta management cant quite manage the 16valves.

plugs, use focus rs ones,

inlet manifold, lukes got a mondeo plastin one bolted on at the mo, but that looks pony,

fiesta one, or rs1800 for best flow,

three cossie coolers will give you bad throtle responce as its to big fr the amount of boost youll be running,

home made breather as the turbo wil foul the original, unless youmove it as i said earlyer,

you need cossie oil feed pipe, and then you need to make a thermo stat, or get a rare zetec metal on so you can cut it and swing it round for rwd, or buy a burtons water rail, custom sump depending on what front cross memeber,

also youll need side flow injectors (unless you use the rover fuel rail)
standard skyline gtr injectors will be fine for you aplication, and there side flow.

if you go mega squirt for management, youull probly need to adapt a efi sierra loom, or an fiesta rs one to fit your bay.

then they give you a diagram to convert the ecu plug.

t34 prob a bit big for a non low comp zetec, would be better with a stage 3 t3 imo.

good luck with it radders

oh yeah, i think youll need to use 1800 zetec water pump as the mondeo ones pump the wrong way

if your any good at fab work then you will get the 200sx manifold to fit easy and looks much better than the escort one when fitted

what about Rover M16 inlet radders? with the throttle body on the opposite end of the plenum to normal, so it faces the front of the car instead of the rear

with this exhaust manifold... no messing just bolt on

the exh manifold is $399 from America

rover inlet would be about £40 plus the fabrication work required

no it wouldnt just turn around, be easier just to cut off the rover throttle body and weld that end up (saying as you already have to cut this end anyway) then adapt the otherside to take the throttle body you require.

What car is that exhaust manifold from? a 200sx ?

Looks well sweet and a good price too, you can get a lot of good stuff from the sates at good prices! Just re-emphasises that we live in good old rip-off britain, the only thing the gorvernment are good at doing is taxing people and finding any new way they can to rob us of our money.

that 399 dollars could almost buy forged rods and pistons,

just drill and tap the head or get a standard focus rs manfold, no fuckin round.

you also need to consider where the manifold is going to place the turbo in relation to the bulkhead,

hence lukes method of fitting the erst manifold then making an extension section is a good one as it means you can move the turbo (even though he fucked up and put his in the wrong place lol

rover inlet is stupid idea for your aplication as cutting and welding, youll fuck up the flow,

200sx ports almost line up, but not quite.

you could try a 200sx inlet, with an adaptor plate for the inlet, they flow quit well.

add me on msn if you want radders,
ill have a think bout the inlet thing, as if you going ms management, then your no limited by choice lol,

I have no bulkhead

The car is being build to how I want it. Engine will be placed in, sized up, things moved to where they need to be not have to be, and paneled

See!

I've got the donor car now, So its going to be just a boring 2.0 Zetec for now.. But I WILL build a 'proper' ZT

I may even have one already built, I just need to sort out getting it now
