Default Usual oil consumption?

I change oil and oil filter before 3000 km, and fuel level was on maximum. Now I see that level is on half. is that normal oil consumption? I drive car on shorter distances and sometimes car dont have good operaiting temperature because distance is too short. engine is stock, no mods at 0.5 bar.

I'd say 0.5 litres / 3000 km isn't too bad. Wouldn't worry too much about it.

In the Sierra Cosworth manual, Ford claimed that oil consumption can be up to 1 litre / 1000 km.

But as the chav said: It depends on where you lose it.

ok then.

safe chav: why ?

I see usual oil leaks on oil cap butt little, and maybe around oil breather hoses, they can be oily little bit. turbo hoses are clean and without oil.

I hope it is ok then...

3000km is such a low mileage period, 3000 miles is bad enough let alone 3000km

Can never be a bad thing but i bet you spend more time under the car changing the oil than you do driving it

As said before: I can't see why an oil consumption of 0.5 Litres/3000 km should be something to worry about.

There are so many places where you can leak/burn oil, especially on an old turbo car.

If you add up the amount of oil that is lost through old turbo seals, valve stem seals and maybe a leaking sump or oil return pipe, half a litre per 3000 km isn't that much really.

yes, I changed it before 3000 km , but 3000 km isnt my interval, I plan to change oil every (about) 7000 km.

when I bought car on clock he had about 70 000 km (or 170k or 270k ) and I change oil, now car have 73 000 km. and I ask is ok if car drink half liter oil after 3000 km.

PeterRST told me that is ok, I hope it is. thanks guys

I'd say that's bad,my trackcar uses no oil in 1,600 km of balls out track driving, which is far harder than 3000 road kilometer's.Regards,Micky

Yeah but has your car seen a rebuild yet?

I take it that drag steer owns a 20 year old RST that has never seen any major overhauls so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

And I'd say it's perfectly normal for a car of that age to consume a bit of oil, especially when there's a turbo attached to it which my burn/leak quite a bit when it's becoming tired over the years.

Of course it could be better but on the other hand I think it's quite good for an engine that is likely to have seen in excess of 120000 miles.

79,000 miles/127,000 km,on the origional engine.Nothing rebuilt, even has the origional headgasket (which people claim is a weak link).Car runs at 18 psi boost all day long,so the engine is getting a good workout.regards,Micky

safechav: no problem , my english is bad so I expect that people dont understand me sometimes.

Today I trying to find some oil leaks, I see that on the bottom of the engine, on oil sump (hope that it is correct name for this) is little oil. oil comming from top of oil sump. and on hoses of oil breather, and oil cap is little oil. but flor under engine is clean, no oli oh them.
