Default Racing of The Line

now that my s2 is in the state of taking some abuse, just wanted to know peoples techniques and methods on how they launch of at the lights etc. i intend to take it easy in first and second (upto 3k-4k revs) then shift to third and gradually press the pedal to 6k-6.5k revs) in each gear after.
in most cases ive herd people just flooring it straight in all gears after gear change, but i find that by doing this petrol is wasted and not much power gained oh mayb i havent got the technique right yet

EDIT: my main aim is to get 210hp on the road like it did on the rollers

If you have a paddle clutch it will take a good beating and a good few standing starts

Well, I tend to rev to about 3500 - 4000, then declutch only a little bit to apply power to the drivetrain. You know, there's always a bit of play in the gearbox, diff, shafts, etc. And I'd like to put everything in a "load situation" before really launching to avoid any big jerks and nasty side effects like torn engine mounts, broken drive shafts, etc.

Shortly before I declutch completely (which is done carefully but quickly) I lift off the throttle a bit. As soon as the clutch bites I give it beans again. While avoiding excessive wheelspin I try to go to 2nd gear quickly and after that make the best out of the available rev range.

as above.

in 1st and 2nd gear, keep on the border of spin and power,
i find it best to get into 2nd as soon as you can.

ps, lower your tyre pressures to 17- 20 psi, and give them a slight spin before the line, to get rid of old tread and gravel etc etc.

Treat yourself to an omex rev limiter mate and launch control! Bought mine on ebay for £80, not only does it save you from over revving your engine , also gives you a second limiter ideal for traffic lights and santa pod launches. I set my launch limiter to 2500rpm and when the lights go green let off the limiter and an off you with hardly any wheel spin! It' works really well with a paddle clutch and would take only 30mins to wire in! Dead easy!!

It should still be quick off the lights with the right driver... to a certain degree. With a decent clutch
