Would like a bit of advice on running in my freshly built engine once i fire it up. Would anyone recomend backing off the actuator so it cant hold any boost or would that be a bad idea. I have been told not to run any boost for the first 1000 miles and keep the revs below 3000rpm. Whats peoples suggestions.

You can't really cause any damage by un-winding the actuator, but being realistic its near on impossible to drive a RST without even spinning the turbo up!

A standard engine spools up well easy, you can have the turbo boosting even when the throttle isn't open enough to make use of the boost.

Just drive it sensibly, and if you have a boost controller/switch or whatever keep it as low as possible, a little boost won't cause any damage, its also hard not go above 3000rpm, going a little over again won't hurt

You DO want to take the car on boost, just dont rev it hard. You need to vary the load, and load it up at low rpm.

You could always unplug the amal valve for the first few miles, so that it doesnt come on boost at all.

Opinions anyone?

I ran mine in with boost set normally at 15psi, but didnt give it everything until about 500 miles...

Agreed, some load is needed when running in as the increased cylinder pressure helps bed the piston rings in.

drive it like your constantly bein followed by the fuzz go up an down the gears, put your foot down a little for short bursts (no HIGH revs tho) just look after her
