Default Fan over ride switch

Hi all, Gonna wire in a fan Override switch basically and am wondering about one thing...

I know you take a wire from the earth from the fan switch, but if I want an iluminated switch so I know when its on (blue LED prefferably) do I need to take a feed to illuminate that, if so where from? and how will I get it to work when the fan is on.
Also, should I fuse any of the circuit?

TY please.

I have this in mine. The switch has 3 pins, but only two connect. It illuminates just from 2 connections. Switch is from local motor factors for about £3.

right thats the earth on the fan switch when ingnishion is on
to a 3 pin switch
then your goner need a earth and a ingnishion live to the switch

let us know if your going to put a led on your dash clocks and i will help more i wired my 30 amp switch to the spare heater plug light and it also will come on when the fan switch kicks in
on a side note if you use a cheep low amp 3 pin switch it will burn out if you dont use a relay

Its WAYYYYYYYYY simpler than has been said above!

on the fan plug, you will find an ignition live and a wire which runs to the switch plug - its this wire we want.

on this wire, join a wire, run it into the car, and put it on a switch, the other side to an earth point, job done! (if you want to use just a switch you'll need a 30A jobber to be safe)

And for the LED, connect it to an ignition live, and connect the other side to the wire you ran into the car

EASY PEASY!!

The led will also illuminate when the fan cuts in of its own accord, aswell as when you over-ride

If you get really stuck i'll draw you a pretty diagram

cheers peeps, will hopefully get one with a blue LED, need to look about, so no fuses or relays u reckon Andy?

a pwetty little diagram might help

so:
fan switch negative, run a wire into the car to a 2 pin switch connect to one pin, other pin, run a wire from that to ignition live?
light will go on when I switch fan on, and light will go on when fan cuts in itself?

think I got it?

Best run a live straight from the battery to a relay,
then to a 30 amp fuse,
then fan.

omg you do like to trash out of things

yes you can still use your poofy switch if you must but you have to use a relay in series

Tell me though, for comedy value, how do you propose using a fuse raises a switches current rating?

Stfu, I know nith about wiring about as much as you know about women!

Cheers for the wiring diagram (Awww he even got the fan switch wires the right colours!) , where would I get that exact relay? or is it jus a std relay? and wtf is a 500r resistor? an whats that symbol where the red meets the blue wire?

Industry standard SPST relay (same as those "ultra rare" yellow ones youot old me about )

500R resistor is a 500 Ohm resistor?!

Symbol is your LED
