Default Big brake assembly problem

Hi

I have got a Willwood 300mm big brake kit. What is the coorect torque levet for the bell and rotor/disk assembly ??
I was told that Burton Power recommend torque setting of 14 Nm or 10.5 Lb/ft. but that is not much torque or is it ?
What torque level have you used on your bell and rotor assembly ??

They are only small bolts though anything more than they and they would either sheer off or round out.

Its a small torque but there is a lot of bolts all the way round so the load gets spread evenly

OK, that sounds right

I will go with the 14 Nm for the assembly.

they should have nylock nuts, and it is 14nm

once you torque them tho, dont loosen them or over torque then loosen to 14nm!

Jus put new AP discs on AP bells and that was the recomended torque!

11-14Nm

That is plenty. You need them that 'loose' to allow the different metals to expand at different rates so the disc wont crack.

FFS do not use nylock nuts (nylon melts when hot remember )

They should be proper cleave nuts

My thoughts exactly, that was the reason i asked!

Ive seen many a car at shows with nylocks on the rotors, and that was my first thought

These are the slightly older style cleave nuts we have (as I havnt taken a picture of the new style yet).

The manufacturer currently only supplies 2 places with them thats AP and us

Whats so special about them though

I've seen cleave nuts exactly the same as them at the local fastening place

There is a 4 stage manufacturing process for high tensile high temp use.

Std ones are just 8.8 grade and ideally shouldnt be used.

These go through the 4 processes to keep them at 12.9
