as rick said. get a helicoil kit. you'll need to drill the old thread out then tap a new thread in before fitting the new thread with a helicoil insert. it's very easy to do so long as you're careful and it'll be just as strong as the original thread

Helicoil, easy peasy, my head has a few, you'll never rip a helicoil out again

funny you should say that cos i've seen that happen a couple of times before. it happens all the time at work, especially if they're coming to the end of their usable life.

A poor choice of words on my part, obviously you could damage anything if you abuse it enough, a helicoil is a million times better than the standard thread in the ally though

yeah i totally agree with that. just the ham fisted 17yo fuckwits i tend to be teaching go and tighten the studs to within a knats cock of giving themsevles hernias thus destroying a perfectly good thread. and thats after i tell them not to grollly stuff up cos it's self tightening

Thank you very much, put my mind at rest that has.

My mate says he has got a helicoil kit that he thinks is the right size from when he did a Jag.

I'm guessing you can do it without taking the head off??

Cheers again

Yea you can do it without taking the head off, you'll need to drop the manifold down though which is nearly as hard
