Default ignition timing

can a low comp engine run with more ignition advance that a standard one?

If everything else were equal apart from compression ratio being lower then the answer is YES! boost and fueling being other factors.

set my timing to 12 deg and car feels flat on boost so i advanced timing to about 18 and it feels miles better smoother,thers no det and its boosting about 1 bar. ino its alot off advance but runs better

Tends to be the best way of optimising power most of the AVA tuned cars on here run lower boost with more advance.

so about 18 deg advance sounds ok for low comp?

i thought you could run more ignition timing on a high compression engine,

increasing the ignition timing has a detrementle effect on raising the boost, ie, youll get les increase from turning the boost up doesnt it?

you will hit det sooner if the comp ratio is higher.

Only way around this is to run a higher octane fuel.
