You can buy NON GENUINE chassis rails for £30 each.Then just cut out section that,s rusty and weld in new section.Done this on mine.Now mint.FORD only stock the left hand side and there £79.

If you insist on repairing these,then the best way to get a good EARTH is grind a good bit of the chassis rail to expose BARE METAL and atatch to that.![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Mine now looks like this.

You need to grind down the top of the rails ,where it joins the floor.This will expose the SPOT WELDS.You need to drill these out with a spot weld drill.They are spaced about 2 inches apart so you won,t need to drill many.Then grind down ,across then up to the other side.Do the same about 12 inches apart and remove your rotten section.
Tools you will need are.
1.GRINDER
2.HAMMER AND CHISIL
3.DRILL AND SPOT WELD DRILL.
If your just repairing,not replacing the chassis rail,don,t drill out the spot welds,just cut a rectangle section of rot out.Don,t cut all the way up to where it joins the floor.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

Defo worth cutting that out mate thats fucked!
Chop ALL the rot out - there is no other way, weld in a new section and paint it VERYYYYY well, and FILL the inside full of as much waxoyl as you possibly can, and you shouldnt have a problem again

Strip them off and replace the full rail,As i can guarantee the rest off the rail will be rotting from the inside out and it wont be long before your trying to repair the rest of it!

Stick with it mate, you've been putting the hours in and saving lots of cash in doing so, you deserve to see it on the road
Make sure everything gets painted, unpainted areas obviously rust, and anything you cant get the spray gun paint by hand and/or plaster it in waxoyl
(i hate rust
)
