Default What could be happening ?

My S2 seems to hit flat spots when the 'pedal is to the metal'

When accelerating (not sure what rev range it is ... keeping eyes on the road is the main idea) there's a point when the car just doesn't gain any speed or revs, and the exhaust (pretty sure its the exhaust at the rear) makes a deep burring sound ... then after about a second (cant be much longer) it stops making the sound then the car pulls even quicker then it was when I put my foot down.

Anything to look out for, or listen to ? Or anyone with ideas of what it could be ?

If it's the clutch ... then I can understand as it needs changing if I want to put my foot down.

the only way your going to know for sure is to look at your rev counter!! do 30mph down a straight road and with ya clutch down and in 4th rev the engine to 4.5k and lift clutch up quickly and put ya accelerator peddel down to the floor at the same time, you will soon know if its your clutch or not.

test your tps also, other than that, may need setting up on rolling road!

let us know how you get on

It sounds like your stuttering under full boost coz im having the same problem with my S2, ive been told the gaps on the spark plugs are to big and the sparks being blown out under full boost, or its overboosting coz its not chipped and the actuator needs "turning down" back to 7-8psi. Mines running 10-12psi and stutters but if you feed the pedal slowly it goes with out stuttering. Im changing my plugs, leads, fuel fitter etc to find if it is the gap on the plugs, or leads or fuel filter, if not its gotta get set up by a tuner !! Hope this helps

Thought I'd renew this ... 'cos I can

Hrsturbo - I'm pretty sure the clutch is on it's way out, as it slips when I've got my foot down (not all the time though) ... but when that happens the revs shoot up and the car goes no faster, the problem I have is the revs stay at the same number and so does the car speed.

MattyRST - My S2 is chipped I think we're in the same boat. Mine is fine if the pedal is pressed slowly, and I'm pretty sure theres no 'stutter' on low boost (7-8psi).

I think the car really needs a tune up. It's desperate for one
