The car in question is my Series 1.
I had a problem with one of my spark leads and car was running on three cylinders, so I got straight on to Magnecor for some of there KV85 Leads. I made the biggest school boy error and pull all the old leads off without checking the firing order..........I fitted the new one's (guess work) how I thought was right and tried to start it, got a little spark noise.....and relised I got it wrong. I then checked through the photo gallery and I now think I have the correct firing order but the car isn't starting.
Could I have done damage to anything by starting the car with the leads in the incorrect order?
It wants to start but just wont go that last step.......?????

Coil?????? Still the wrong firing order????????? Dizzy cap????? flooded????? Driver?????

i had same problems as you but mine is a s2 but what i did was got the plugs out and cleaned them up then got the firing order sorted and plugged up then disconnected the cold start injector, then take off your fuel pump relay then turned the car over and leave starter on for a few moments to burn off any excess fuel, then with the cold start injector still unplugged. plug up your fuel pump relay and start car up normally and give it a little throttle when starting and it should tick over on its own

 

if youvr flooded it, remove your plugs and leave it a bit , the fuel will eveporate

timing as follows:
remove plugs
size 19 ring on the crank pulley bolt
line up the mark on the pulley with tdc on the plastic cover and tdc marker on the cam pulley(both pointing up)
remove dizzy cap
rotor now points to number 1
fit plug one to this to number one(nearest cam pulley)
fit number three to the next one(the rotor turns forward towards you)
fit plug 4
fit plug 2

carful when pulling these leads , grab them as low as you can as it is easy to pull them out of the rubber parts that fit over the plugs
