i would go for electrical gauges on the basis that i wouldnt want oil/water lines running in to the car.
the only mechanical gauge i would go for is a boost gauge

electrical if possible , i had a oil pressure line come loose behind the guage and had 4 bar worth of oil all over my footwell , and since i had removed the carpets , it was a bastard to clean.

if using mechanical you run a pipe ie, boost off of vacum hose, so how do the electric gauges get there reading? or am I being thick and the reading is taken as above just displayed in digital
