Default stuck locking wheel nut

my s1 has a locking wheel nut on each wheel. So far no probs,
but today went to start changing my brakes and cant get he front wheel off as the locking nut wont turn.

its stiff as hell and every time i try to turn it i end up flying.

the garages wont do my brake change due to the fact i brought the set up so if they fit them then the garage arent coverd if i crash.

any ideas how to get the locking nut off?

If you don't have the nut to unlock them its an absolute nightmare to get off...will need to be drilled out but carefully so the thread isn't damaged on the hub

Good luck

i have the nut to unlock it but it slips out as the wheel nut is on so tight.

is drilling the only way?

hammer a good strong (i.e. snap on) socket over the end thats a couple of mm smaller.(makesure it's hammered right on) because the lock nuts are alloy the steel socket will cit into it, gripping it. . and you should be able to get it off that way, that's a last resort tho, try getting someone to push the breacker bar (assuming your using one) onto the lock nut while you stand on it?

or get an impact gun, push like fuck while trying to get it off?

or Gator grip?

Try tightening up the 3 normal wheel bolts very tight, this should take the pressure off the locking nut, making it easier to open.Regards Micky

depending on what style of lock nut it is there a various methods, however if u tighten the other 3 up, put loads of Lubricant on and buy a locking wheel nut remover from halfords or somewhere for Ł10, its a reverse thread socket, so the more you push to take it off, the more it will tighten on the nut,

you could also, drill it out, take the hub out and loosen the studding thats holding the nut via some welding or bloody good mole grips

get a impact air gun or battery operated one and give that ago, the hammering affect generaly helps

i had a mc guard locking nut stuck on. bought a set of locking nut removers from halfords and they were shite, total waste of money. i eventualy got it off by twatting a slightly smaller socket over the nut. it took a while but worked eventually. good luck!

Take it to any garage and they should loosen it for you using their air-gun. Then tighten it back up manually so you can release it when you get back home. Get them to do the others whilst they are at it as well.

well we tried everything.

in the end we had to chisel the outter skin to get the socket on without it spinning.

finally got it off, now my car is running black dimond combi's with dimond pads.

finally no shaking when braking!!!!
