s1&s2 ecu swapping
#3
It Wasnt Me!
S2 ECU's need a knock sensor to work properly, well the ECU's that had that facility, so i'd say S1 ECU on an S2 is fine as it doesnt have the need for a Knock sensor even tho the s2 engine has one
So S1 ECU on an S2 will be ok
I run an S1 ECU on an S2 engine

As Davvy says, you can switch all the ecu's between all cars and they will all function, but any series 2 ecu after 86 will have the input for a knock sensor, and without it the ingition curve will be extremely flat.
The later ecu's also require a the input from the secondary CTS but no one ever seems to mention this?
At very best if you want to run a S2 ecu on a series 1 you can just wire a knock sensor to it and tuck it up out of the way
