mk4 escort brake problems
has anyone else experienced this?
the back end keeps coming round when you brake into a bend.
its got to be either too much brake making it slide round.
or too little of course.
i have sierra disc's at back and 300mm at front.
but i have no weight at back of car.
its all stripped out and im concerened that its locking the rears through bends.
it has not got weight bias valves and the brakes are running diagnal as they should.
in a straight line they seem to stop good, not as if its all the rears as they would just lock instantly.
if its not enough rear bias then how would i solve that?

yeah happens with alot of cars when you fit discs on the rear. my mates nova did it badly. my scort does it but its not too bad so far, in the wet i'm just very careful.
i'm planning to fit an adjusable brake bias valve before the winter

not tryin to steal the thread of anythin but seeing as a few of us are here with discs all round, do you find that the pedal travels alot before ding anythin? found sometimes that it goes hard as it should then drops slightly

It is over braking that is causing it, if it does it both ways.
If it only ever does it 1 way its either generally a bleeding or siezed caliper issue.
A few simple ways to cure it... fit a bias valve(s) try different pads, or sort out the prblems if its related to the caliper.
My pedal only moves about 1 inch from top to bottom as I dont have a servo.

can i fit reduces for the rear brake pipes as bias valves are going to be hard to do as brakes run diagnal.

Ive got a full 2wd set up and my pedal is shit aswell, the car passed the MOT fine, but i don't like it, and i CAN'T lock the brakes up as is.
I'm about to upgrade the servo and master cylinder.

Personally I've junked the diagonal split brake line set-up and replaced it with a more conventional one line from the cylinder splitting for the front brakes and the other line running an in-line bias valve and then splitting for the rear brakes....no problems here
