differences are the lift and duration, the 285 has a duration of 276 degrees (in and ex) and a lift of 11.17mm

where as the 285 t2 has a duration of 262 inlet and 270 exhaust and a lift of 11.43

i dont see why it shouldnt be ok, you will still get an increase in performance

have a look at pipers online catalouge

i've had both & rate the 285t more. the 285t2 seemed to wear real quick
& one of the lifters i got with the kit popped & fooked the head.
the 285t seemed to have a nicer power & it lasted much longer.

although i didn't like pipers shitty attitude so i have used kent cams
since. there just as good. & i have never had a problem with them,
wheras i have seen a few pipers go wrong.

each to their own though. best of luck with your choice

i think the t2 is the one to use if you are running with higher boost levels
