Default 18's on an s1

is it easily done just i want big wheels on but it rubs on the arches with the standard wheels on. id settle for 17's but would really like 18's on it ?

Your mad, you'd have to do quite a bit of arch work as my 17's rub a little on hard cornering.
Arches on mine are getting done in the new year and a change to coil overs in preparation for track days

Dont do it mate, as Daz said 16"`s are the biggest id put on to. Imo leave the standard 15"`s on there looks and handles right!!!!!

I know someone who put 18's on a mk4, had to chop the arches a bit but apart from that it went on ok.

17's go on ok. If you put 16's on you'll only regret not getting 17's

What about putting a set of escort cossie wheels on as they suit the looks of series ones and they have nice and wide tyres for good grip

Its quite surprising what will fit wheel size, the main limiting factor is your suspension setup.

I have had various sizes of wheel fitted on different suspension set ups!

17"s are fine on 20-25mm drop
anything more and you are into problems 4up or during harsh cornering!

16"s are great and possibly the best all round, not harsh over pot holes, great for handeling etc etc!

TILLIO what rubber are you using on your 18s M8? Your car looks the bomb BTW!

Cliff what :coilovers have you gone for? Definatly the way to go for track IMO!

215/35 Toyo proxes, £115 a corner

Avo coilovers, and sum arch rollin. Back sits well in the arches as pic shows, front goes lower, but not all engine in, and suspension wound up at the mo.

hi mate i had 18"s on my s2 i had to take them off because it put pressure on the gear box so with big wheels or big bhp or big gearbox
i had to cut the arches and get koni adjustables
good luck

I personally do like big whels but i have 17's on my s2 but they make it really skippy and u will follow and feel every bump in the road. Had the same on my 3i aswell, Spose its just a comprimise between handleing, comfort and looks.

I'll get some pics uploaded soon.
