Default Upper Boost Limit.

Hi. When driving my cars rev limiter comes in at about 4000RPM in 3rdgear and above, which is most annoying, I think this is due to some sort of preset boost limit. Just wondering if its possible to get rid off, or do i need a new ECU and chip?? Any help appreciated CheeRS Kenny

Overboost is a mode the ECU goes into when it reads more than 10psi of boost. The engine will cut out and not accelerate until you have lifted off the throttle and re applied.

You are either running a 195 bhp chip which still has an overboost facility but higher up the boost range. I think this limits the boost to about 14 psi...

Or you are running an unlimited boost chip which has no overboost facility.

I noticed you are in Blackpool....I would suggest going to see Stu + Kenny @ Motorsport Developments. They will sort you out.

A chip with a higher boost limit sounds like the fault a possible cure will be to turn the boost down so then the overboost wont come in allowing the car to pull all the way up the revs. Will this work???
