Rs Turbo amal valve Vs Bleed valve discussion
#41
Lol, how did i miss this..
I use TWO bleed valves in my car - one under bonnet, and one inside to allow fine trim.
They are invaluable to allow quick and precise adjustment of boost, especially when you are experminenting with different boost and igntion settings. Bleed valves don't adjust themselves. If you can't help yourself and twist it after it's been set, then you shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a car...
ESCII will shut the amal valve when the inlet temps soar, to reduce the boost as std. But it makes sod all difference in practice, a lot of chips don't even have this control.
The only argument against using a frequency clamp is that igntion is flat afer 8 psi or so. The ESCII has 2.5 bar map sensor, and in theory u could map to this value. But, it doesn't work in practice. The ESCII has such few load sites, that if u assign them to high boost levels, it messes up everything low down. I know, i've tried it - and had to run 2 degrees ATDC static advance!
