After getting some new tyres fitted, with the sheer amount of joy i gave my rs turbo a good boot just as i left. Engine was already warm. As i noticed the speed bump slammed on the brakes. Come back on the throttle to hear an annoying ticking sound coming from the rear driver side wheel. Took the wheel off. Was all good. Took had brake off and spun hum and was catching. So spent about 2 hours trying to realign heat shield. Thin bit of tin that goes all the way round. Still was doing it. Cut away half the heat shield, as thought dont do much braking on the rears. Still doing it. Now the hubs getting mega work and hub is still getting caught. Some one said remove the whole heat shield but doesnt sound like a good idea to me. Do i need to replace the whole thing. (bit behind the rear shoes that hub goes over) or can i get another heat shield fitted. Also is this a ford only part or will places like motorist discount do em. If you have any other ideas let me know.

cheers for the help mate sorry to be a div, but the part i needed was a backplate. Mechanic told me it was called rear drum.
So part 40 quid from ford. Whilst open may aswell do shoes so that gonna be at least Ł30 quid im thinking both sides. Knowing my luck other side plate will go. Thats another Ł30. May aswell used rear conversion for say Ł150 or make one myself from bits from ebay mounting kit is 40, calipers are not too dear. If i can find a second hand plate for 15.00 then could use that. If icant then looks like conversion is better option.

I thought it would be the back plate to be honest but never having had RST drums i wasn't going to pretent i knew
I'm a little concerned why/how this back plate has bent, they are quite thick and there isn't really anyway they can bend unless the drums loose (which would be VERY dangerous)...............
Rear disc conversion is better in every respect

Hi mate its not the backplates itself around that backplate is bit of metal that goes all the way round very thin. Some call it a heat shield, others a stone shield. If u turn a drum upisde diwn u can see the where is supposed to go inbetween the outer and innerdrum there will be a whole cut for it.
Anyway. I got this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/escort-rs-turb...QQcmdZViewItem
Was in my budget, and got gold calipers cos i love to pimp dem b*itches. Or alternatively they could pimp me, either way. Will post some pics of the rs and bits soon.
I used to have one of those Orions, loved it. Mine was black thou. Used to love chasing Xr3is.
