I remember when i was 2 years into my apprenticeship, we were building engines in the workshop (pinto's ) and my lecturer asked me what car i wanted when i was qualified, i said i wanted an Series 1 RS turbo at which he pissed himself and reckoned i'd be better off with a 5 GTT.

the next time your at AVA check out the black and red S2's that are there...

both will be naking over 300 ATW soon

 

I did have a wee poke around while i was there, i also spotted a RWD (YB powered) S2 up on the ramps with some very trick chassis mods while i was there.

If im right the other two S2's also had the same wishbone and coilover setup which looked very impressive indeed.

And a certain Zetec through the back

 

The white S2 is a 4x4'd Zetec

The black one belongs to me and is in the garage adjoining the RR room. Im sure they will give you a look, if you ask nice enough! as to the power..............pure speculation Euan

What sort of power are you aiming for Pete once the problems have been sorted, for it to have 230 ish at the fly you would really need to get 200@ the wheels

It will be interesting to see if you do and you will be very happy with the power increase

 

I want the full 230 (fly figure) that the car was put together to run Dave, ive been thinking about the high ACT thing and been looking at the pace chargecooler kit (pricey!!!)

Would it be worth the cash and hassle at all?

Actually jambo i hadnt thought of that , what i want though is a clerar path to the rad so things dont get to hot and the fans are blowing right onto it im getting some shitty temperatures sometimes.

Plus if i sandwiched the fans between the i/c and rad ill need to make more mods to the bodywork to make it fit. ive had a good poke about it and it looks like hefty work.

I reckoned the ch/cooler would help by letting more air to the rad whilest keeping the ACT's down, hopefully more than im getting at the mo.

Need a panel filter as well though so thats next, ill pick one of those up next week and i also booked back into AVA for the fuelling and dyno runs, thats in two weeks but i might try and bring it forward to next saturday since the lass wants to go to glasgow then so might as well kill two birds with one stone eh (no i dont mean bludgeoning her to death with a brick ).

Just go look in the garage at the plum-coloured vehicle...then you'll be ok mate.

 

I trial fitted everything up today, had to move the unti for alarm a wee tad but just moved the unit itself within the bracket and it fits fine.

Andy you reckoned the intercooler might get in the way, it's just snug in there with not alot of space between im hoping that temps will be cool enough so it doesnt cause any damage to the box.

Oh and Stu very kindly sent me a copy of the engine build CD, quite a decent chap is our Stu, nattered for a while on the phone and im sure he was quite busy. top bloke

Okeydokey......update

Spoken to Colin @ AVA today and after our wee chat im picking up a ford panel filter tomorrow at the astounding price of Ł7.00 (now one of AVA's escorts are running a good 300bhp and they use std ford filters with modded boxes, fuck you K&N )

Im booked in for my fuelling setup, the MFI is getting a good overhaul and tweaked (so the 5th may end up binned, also its a dark green in there which is too heavy for the car) after that some recaliberation and a full setup. so im pretty much spending the whole of this saturday at AVA

If it all goes to plan then boost levels should come down and power should also go up (hopefully )

Once thats all done and dusted ill post up the details and new graphs up in here

Got offered 7k for it last week........not for sale

 

ok as should have been expected, nowt went to plan

God bless AVA, they worked on this car from about 11 am till about quarter to six

Fuelling mods are done and turns out the 5th injector has never worked as its not been connected to the manifold so therefor the controller cant see any boost.

the over fuelling is sorted and the car is detonating at high revs.

The electronic module on the metering head is fooked as well

So back to AVA on saturday and well see what happens then....

AVA will sort it out eventually mate, need to get a look at your car sometime a group photo of all our S1's (well as many as we can round up in scotland) would be good

Washed the car but vant polish incase it hammers down mid polish (like yesterday )

It's been stunning all day here mate, car loved it going out!

Still havn't been above 4.5k revs as still on running in miles on the original engine!

But I like it, as I said, hope the fuckin thing is sorted for you soon and all the issue's caused are sorted so you can enjoy it in summer too
