hiya guys, the other nite i was out driving in my s2 rs, what appaeared to happen was we ran out of fuel (bit of a funny fuel gauge). my stepdad picked me some up that nite and i put it in it, and it just wudnt start, so we came back the next morning with the toe rope handy, but first i tried starting it... and it worked
. so we fort great, lets go fill it up with petrol... a mile down the road and an almighty "BANG" then the engine cut out. we got toed home and started to have a look round, we have fuel into the measuring unit, not sure if its gettin to the injectors properly, also have a good spark but it just wont fire up,just a few pops and chugs and some black smoke any ideas??? cheers, mike

sorry not measuring unit . Metering unit**,also it had a compression test on the engine about 2 weeks ago and all cylinders running at 100% efficiency, no leaks.
Fuel pump could be shot and not be producing enough pressure, MFI is solely reliant upon a good fuel pressure. Is the fuel pump noisy?
Slight chance the hydro electric pressure actuator could have packed up but unlikely.

well we took the line off and turned trhe ignition on, loads of petorl sprayed out so guess the pump is alrite, maybe i cud look to replace it, how much they usualy go for?
Just because its pumping fuel doesn't mean its producing sufficient pressure to operate the system.
They can be quite pricey new. After market uprated items usually work out more cost effective aswell as being a good future proof upgrade
