Default does a strut brace make any difference

i just put in some polly bushes in my s2 to try to keep it in a streight line over 220 bhp

even with the quafe diff it try's to pull me all left and right on uneaven country roads

and i wonderd if anyone can tell me what differnce it made before and after fitting a strut brace on a high power S2

They're supposed to counter torque steer as already said. I've had one on my S1 for years but have to say mine's just there for effect and I never noticed any real difference........I think they needm to be the steel welded in jobs to be really beneficial. Can't see how a couple of screws in the RST ones make a big difference !!!

You're right to a degree but big power RST's will always have torque steer its a fact of life. Coilovers, adj. TCA's, polybushes, strut braces etc reduce it but don't stop it

mine is really bad for torque steer, but i enjoy having to be alert all the time and fighting with it to keep it in a straight line.

My strut brace made a difference, not to handling but to the engine movement

Its got a bar coming off it to steady the engine

Its got a rubber mount where the bar comes off the brace so its got a bit of movement, its all made of stainless steel and cost a fair bit but it does the job well

Initially about the same as replacing everything with new standard ones.

If however your replacing 15 year old worn out ones then you will notice it a little tighter with less movement.

My car is fully Poly-bushed front and rear, has adjustable TCA's, a complete Turbo Technics front adjustable ARB/tie-bar assembly with a thick Crossmember, adjustable rear tie-bars, rose-jointed rear ARB and was properly set-up. Yes that lot did improve things, but the torque-steer I get would be enough to guarantee that anyone that stole my car would most probably end up in a hedge within the first 5 miles.

I know that a Quaife ATB diff would improve things, but I am not quite sure if I like how they drive. I like the oddly controllable yet unpredictable feeling I get from it. At least I have an idea how to sort it out, whereas with an ATB diff, it all becomes a little robotic.

No, never really had the chance. I did say to myself that next time the 'box blows it will get an ATB diff, but that still depends on me having the finances at the time!! (unlikely!!)

I don't disagree with that, but have you ever experienced Torque-steer so violent that it unsettles the rear of the car?

never meant it to be sounding as tho it completly stops all torque steer by having Adj. TCA's just cuts it down a bit

As you say, you'll never completly get rid of it, and as people say its fun too

spesh when you head off into oncoming traffic

what difference does a quaife diff make to drivability, dont it sound mechanical ,and does it swipe off a bit of torque steer then?

I'm not keen on torque steer at all

Not too bad on a wide open road....but if you like attacking country lanes its a bloody nightmare!! [And it deffo slows you down!!].

Thats why I think 220BHP in my RST is more than enough and I deffo don't want any more power!
