hi ime new to this forum and ime after a little bit of help,my car at the moment is running a s2 escort engine and its knocking really bad and ive been offered a new engine for my car but its out of a s1 escort,is there any diffrence between the two engines like where the sensors go on the block and if i will be able to still use my s2 engine managment or will i need it of a s1

any help will be really good

Could be wrong as i dont own an S1 but i was under the impression that S1's are slightly different from S2 engines not a exactly sure on everything that is different tho. I know thats not much help, but my opinon is that they are different.

 

the diffrence are :

water pump
c.r 8.3:1
oil cooled turbo
oil pump

that is what i remember hope that helps you
