£700??
To remove it, you simply remove the bumper - 4 Bolts. OK, they are a bit fiddly.
Then undo the brackets if they are still attached. Then release the 2 hoses, top and bottom and take extract the cooler.
Job done.
I reckon you could have that sewn up in under an hour. It's only the fact that the Bumper bolts are fiddly and they may break off that may take a little longer.
£700? You must still be walking bow-legged after that one.
We charge £200 to do a 200SX FMIC and there is some chassis cutting involved in that, aswell as a hole through the battery tray to cut.

Well Lane arse wraped my mate as well!! They charged 3k to do a T3 conversion on his Fezza RS... When he was drivin it home it was running worse than when it had the T2 on it.
He complained and there response was... " Well you didnt ask for us to set the car up"
£700... did you not think to ask them why its nearly costing a grand to remove a cooler!!

Remove front bumper, unbolt cooler: cry:
BEFORE you all slate me…..I know that £700 is WAY over the top to fit the GRS BUT if you look at it from Well Lanes point of view and think it is justifiable.
Well Lane is a fully established Garage and like most have a standard charge out rate [£35 + VAT I think] and will charge this rate for every hour spent working on your car. The GRS is a pig to fit correctly first time round [Getting it to clear the bumper, getting the fans to fit, modifying the bumper etc….]. If you take off the VAT and the standard charge of £60 + VAT for setting the car up then it works out they spent around 15 hours fitting the cooler.
In my own experience of fitting the GRS this is a little long but not outrageous!
The only thing they did wrong imo was not call you to authorise the work before continuing!
Lessons to be learnt – Learn to work on your car yourself and only leave the specialist stuff to the professionals.

i've been naming and shaming them for years now!
i did argue for ages, they just said that i added bits to it, like fit a 2 stage boost switch & fan override & new thermostat
just that up bumped the price up £400!!!
i just stuck it on my credit card!
wost thing is that was 3 years ago and i'm still payin my credit card, so its probably cost me bout £2000 now

Must admit.....I do still use them very occasionally but only for VERY limited stuff and I don't EVER leave the car with them or out of my sight
I don't trust anyone other than Barry either, he's been in the game YEARS and to be fair does know his stuff. The rest are just monkeys!

We charge an hourly rate for many jobs, but some you really have to quote a flat job rate.
We take the rough with the smooth.
For example, we can now carry out a Clutch swap on an 200SX in around 90 minutes. We still charge £130 for that. That's a pretty good hourly rate, I agree, but the only reason we can do it so quickly is because we have done so many and have special tools to help us.
On the flip side of that coin, would be a gauge-fitting job, where it could take all day to get a nice looking custom installation right, but there is no way you could get away with charging 8-9 hours labour to fit 3 gauges, is there?
We average around £200 to fit a Front-mounted Intercooler on a 200SX, I wouldn't really charge much more to do one on an S2, certainly not £700. Yes, there is some chopping around involved, but the job just isn't worth that kind of money.
Well Lane should be ashamed if you ask me.

I see what your saying Christian…but all Garages are different and I know in particular that Well Lane stick to hourly rates usually as we all know jobs on modified cars often become more and more difficult as the job progresses. Well Lane is run more along the lines of a larger dealer franchise like a Ford or Vauxhall Garage than a friendly tuner!
I also think by the sound of it Cawood had his GRS fitted a while back when Well Lane or many other tuners/garages for that matter didn’t have much experience of fitting the cooler to an RST which is why it took a good few hours as its not a straight forward installation.
Anyway,
Where’s my price for my Stud/Nut conversion?
