Default hall effect sensor

i was testing the thing on the car today and i see that there is a 12v input wen ignition is on, there is 3pins on the sensor + 0 -, so does the output voltage come out of the 0pin and go too the coil? my meter isnt designed to check a pulsing voltage as quick as that so i couldnt get a reading off the middle pin (marked "0"), just wana see there is still a 12v input and output wen my car cuts out , dam thing didnt cut out today did it!

the sensor creates a very small voltage that goes to an ignition amplifier, then to the coil, these cars have problems with some pins becoming intermitant conections on the ecu, i would suggest firstly taking your ecu out and cleaning the pins with contact cleaner, se waht happens then mate. L

It'll probably be a 5v square wave which will need an oscilliscope to test properly...

quite correct, its 2.4v +&- of 0v thus making 4.8v cosistant sqaure wave, if you dont have an osciliscope handy which not many ppl have, you can use(sounds weird) a scrap pair of walkman headphones....haha yes you can listen to the pulse... just connect the headpone bare wire to the + - connections, if it clicks constant in your ear if its workin properly...weird i know but when your in the middle of nowhere and trying to determin whats wrong with your motor.........it worked lol
