What dump valve have you got. Sounds like you've got a diaphram dump valve, u need a twin piston dump valve on a ERST.

As Safechav says, its got to be a Bailey twin piston dump valve to work properly! and there is NO reason why you should have bad idle with it fitted! it makes NO difference to mine on idle when its on as to when its off!!

Doesnt have to be a Bailey one at all, can be ANY twin piston dump valve.

Agreed Rumour has it the bailey one is the best if you insist on one however.

sounds to me like you've got some sort of air leak, this happened to me and it was a air leak. it's something to do with the flap underneith the airfilter. air is been sucked in and it's not passin through the flap

Have a look down the end of the dump valve and if its twin piston u will see a thin metal piston inside a larger black plastic piston.

Any piping is ok, but we all know silicon vacuum hose looks the nuts The norm is about £10 for 3 metres, and small cable ties are the best way of securing the pipe onto conncetions (and if u really want to be a tart u can buy some matching coloured ones )
