There isn't a fuse in the fuel pump relay, only in the KE over voltage protection relay, which has been checked already by Stu at MSD.

safechav

I am not sure what you mean by left and right fuse to be honest. The S1 KE fuse is the fuel pump fuse which is all on it's own between 2 main rows of fuses.

Paul17

There is a red wire from the KE over voltage relay (next to the fuel pump relay). That goes to pin 1 on the KE module and needs to be continuous and have 12v on it with the ignition on.

Sorry im getting all confused now. When i say about left and right fuses, you said about the location of the fuel injection fuse, and there is a blank slot opposite that also on its own between the 2nd n 3rd rows. Ive got my Over Voltage Protection Module fuse in there cos ive patched in series 2 wiring into my car, so basically, i'll shut up cos im getting more confused

Pin one mate. If you unscrew the cover and slide it off on the wiring loom, you will see numbers inside next to each pin.

Unfortunately I don't know what else to suggest, without someone who knows the S1 spending serious time on the car. Have you spoke to Stu about it again?

yeah it's booked in next sat i'm droppin it off and leavin it there 4 a week cos i can only get down on saturdays so i'm without the car 4a week. i think there gona check through every wire n try n sorce the fault. Could do with tryin my ecu on another S1 to make sure for deffo it's not my ecu or that it is my ecu.

it's not i don't think. Spoke to them 2day and there still no closer to findin the problem they've sorted the power to the fuel ecu out but the reason why the ecu cut's the ignition is still a mistery. I'm hoping they'll find it soon cos i'm missin my car, plus walkin everywhere is a nightmear

how do you adjust the rev limiter? do ya think it could be this causin the problem?

The problem is time Paul,
Im sure you dont want to book a workshop and one man for 8hrs per day for a full week or until she is fixed at £50ph? That would be an expensive fix, so instead, Kenny has asked you to leave it for a week so we can squeeze it in between other jobs and scope a few triggers and supplys when we have a spare 30mins here and there, thus leaving you far less out of pocket cos i told you i would look after you on it, and this is teh easiest way, by utilising normally uncharged time.

We said it will be ready in a week and that week ends this saturday... ive never been wrong yet, nor have i had one beat us yet and i dont intend to let yours be the first...

All being well, i will be seeing you Saturday.

I have a spare fuel pump relay if you want to try that Stu?

I know it's pretty unlikely to be that but there is the rev limiter inside the relay that may be breaking down..

my car has bn ill for months , keeps cutting out, then restarts after 3mins, so i changed, coil- no change, fuelfilter-no change, plugs- stopped the cutting out for a few days, now just misses a beat for a few secs and carries on but does not cut out completely like before, so i changed the leads but no change the car still misses a beat every now and again but no where near as frequent! So im getting closer to the problem either dizzy or ignition modual i think, one thing i did notice was the rev counter having a slight fit wen the car did start missing! Any ideas?

That is the hall effect sensor in the dizzy breaking down.

Your Welcome Paul, sorry we had to leave you with no car for a few days though... the KE system isnt normally quite as tricky as yours to fix. lol

So wat was the problem wiv the car? i would love to be able to pop down to yours and hav u lot look at it but i live on the sunny south coast in dorset so cant really bring it too you! Is it the dizzy breaking down, the new plugs havnt cured the problem but only slightly helped because the spark is a bit stronger wiv new plugs!

As i said i put money on it being your dizzy, it controls the LT signals and if your rev counter is going dropping when it back fires that means the LT signals are momentarily stopping, it could also be the boost limiter which is at about 10psi on a standard ECU but its more than 99.9% going to be the dizzy.

is there not a chance you could borrow a dizzy from someone, does sound like it's a dizzy problem, if rev counter dips it's got to be either dizzy, ecu, or wiring. I'd bet it's the dizzy aswell. there arround a hundread quid to replace i've just bought one for mine.
