Need to know if my Escy had a cat fitted.
I have a intermitent misfire in my large turbo escort when under boost. Was thinking of changing the distributor cap as a start as it might be cracked. But my Ford dealer needs to know if my car originaly had a cat fitted as there are 2 different types. It had a SS system when i bought it so i'm not sure. It was first registered in 1/8/'93. hope ye can help.

Just off the phone from a M8, He reckons if i knock the boost back a bit it should cure the misfire. It happened to another M8's escy in the winter with the cooler air. Any ideas ??

I think the only reason he wanted to know about the cat was to see what model it was. Sure he even asked me was it a '05 Reg And was it a 5 door . Defo not a petrol head me thinks.

there are 2 different types of cap
non cat=side entry cap
cat= straight cap
escorts are straight cap part number=6542391
oh & they are the expensive ones, imo your better getting it from woodford garage,not as good as a gen ford one but at about £15 just change it once a year

Nice one guys. I knocked the boost back 2 turns of the actuator and the missfire is sorted. Has somthing to do with the air being denser in winter which then causes it to over boost. Hope to get a 330 conversion in the new year so i'll get it mapped properly then. Hope you're all enjoying your christmas. Fookin boring, especially when you can't drink!! Have to drive home later.
