Escort Cosworth Keys??
Should escort cosworths have a red key?
Just looking at a small turbo and forgot to ask if it had one. If they should have one, what is it actually needed for and is it a problem if it doesnt?
Wrote down loads of stuff to check and ask the seller, but this completly slipped my mind until someone else mentioned it to me.
Thanks, Rich.

NOT a red ignition key, but yes ideally a red immobiliser key.. IF it doesnt have the red immobiliser key, then it isnt the end of the world, just get the immobiliser taken out, they are getting old now anyway

Whether its a small turbo or big turbo wasnt really an issue for me to be honest mate. I agree if you want big power then the big turbo is probably a must. Ive come across a really nice small turbo with low miles with over 300 bhp which is more than enough for me. Its got an extensive service history and has been meticulously maintained and pampered. Too good to miss out on so i had to have it!!! I pick it up at the weekend and cant wait.

The one in the photo is your taken out? Would you like to sell to me or give me the instruction on how to eventually take out mine
I ask you because sometime is very difficult to made a start (the only key i found is quite old/used) so I don't want to find myself in a bad situation.
Thank for your interest.

If you can PROVE you have a ECos, with a Wipac Immob I can give you a FULL concise and extensive procedure to remove it... but I wont give it out to any tom dick or Harry
It will take you at least 2 hours IMO

I'd prefer to have the original immob but in case my key start to fault i need to disable the immob or if i find a complete original immob i can change it.

You wouldnt have had red IGN keys or a big red wipac immobiliser key, though you would have had a Vecta immobiliser which is a little black and red key (If its still in place)

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
To bring this tread back from the dead ! but did a search and found this post so thought i would just add to it,
Just putting my Escos back on the road, i cannot find the spares keys, I do have the Rey key but my local ford parts guy took the chip out of it back in the day to for some reason,
Anyway my question, what circuit does it immobilise ? as i have gone onto a stand alone ECU so wondering if i need a key with a chip in anyway
