Escort Cosworth Buying Guide?
Hi all, ive just sold my S1 and now looking for an Escort Cosworth. I was wondering if any of you guys would be kind enough to point me in the right direction to some kind of buying guides for them?
Or any advice at all for that matter on what to avoid and some comman faults/problems to look out for?
Thanks in advance, Rich.

get a large turbo if you can afford a good one. £14/15k is a realistic price to pay for one, and before anyone says about the colour, pick one you like and not the colour every one else wants you to buy(the seller). what you will find is that the less desirable colours will be cheaper to buy rather than a sought after colour like imperial or pacific (cough cough). in my honest opinnion buy one that has had all the hard work and money spent on it already save you a fortune well ive started the debate off for you

Thanks for that mate. Im not too bothered about performance to be honest. A standard one would do, so large or small turbo doesnt really matter to me. I like Auralis blue and beleive they only ever came on the late model small turbo's??

I`ve had big & small turbo models m8. Prefer the small really, find that owning a big turbo you know the possibility for high moddifiying is hard to resist . I did an spent a fortune, bought a mint low mileage small turbo that wasn1t chipped but had a lot of cash spent. Dont buy the first one you see, look at quite a few so you can see what you are getting for your money.. . I gave just over £17k for mine, but it is a real minter.. Good luck with your search

i have a small turbo and i love it to be honest not had 1 proper problem with it bar plug gaps, they are a nice car easy to drive the lrg turbo's are known to be laggy and are more tunable... depends on what you want really for a good 300bhp all day a small turbo will be fine... but if you want over that then prob look out for a lrg turbo....
its hard for anyone to say but you have to go for what you want out of it yourself

Thanks for all the info guys.
Think im going to try and look for a small turbo as I'd prefer a later model and most of them seem to have lower miles.
Are there any common faults and problems to look out for when viewing?
Cheers, Rich.

usual rust on the arch's, usual checks engine no chassis no all that stuff, check oil (no signs of gasket failure) just check all the features work like the switch's... electrics can go funny on them.. basically just check the engine and mechanics are in good cond as there expensive to repair...
as are the archs so aslong as thats all good shud be fine.... also check the panel gaps for signs of a accident also paint lines... think thats it
