Should I sell the cossie?
I think my cossie is great but Ive got the urge for a new shape M3 with all the gear on it.Would you swap a stage3 esc cos for a M3.I dont know if I should.

i was in the exact same scenario a few months back, i was also going to sell up and go for a late shape M3, in my opinion it would be the only car id give up the cossie for.
but when i started to tidy up the car to get it ready for selling i just got hooked again, mine had been sat in the workshop for just over 14 months and this past 3 months ive thrown a good few thousand at it again... im slowly getting there although its not really going to be a very good road car now.
if your considering moving on make sure your 100% about your decision, its hard to decide what to do, but in many ways you may just regret it!

I had an M3 cab e36 shape as well it was great i enjoyed driving it but i could have had an escort cos then ( 3 years ago ) but i think i wanted people to think i had a few quid so bought the M3, eveyone know's what they are and the birds love them ( it was a good year if you know what i mean ) Got my Escort now and am enjoying driving it and sorting through the problems. The E46 M3 is a lovel car and if you want one then go for it just got to be 100% as you dont want to be looking for a good escos again

I have both
The M3's build quailty will make you realise how shonky the Escort is
They are very very different cars, the power delivery on the M3 is outstanding with power all the time upto 8K revs with no lag.
I disagree with the respect difference as well, the amount of time I've heard 'buisness must be good' or 'your doing well' or 'M3's are about £50k aren't they?' 'now thats a proper car' etc etc
I'm not knocking the cossie either, I've always wanted one its my dream car.. I'd never ever have one as a daily runner thou!
In terms of power being rear wheel drive I'd say it would be far off a 400bhp Esc cossie anyway, I raced an RS6 recently on a rolling start and we where evenly matched the whole way upto 130mph.. I had a DB9 pull two car lengths on me.. and was totally cained by my mates 500bhp Skyline
Best single thing about the M3 thou is the exhaust note... you simply can't beat it when your giving it some!

I didn't buy it for that and it actually surprised me the respect and business the car has got me (being an Estate Agent!) people are so shallow
I remember taking the RS's on valuations and people just think 'boy racer'
just one of those things!
The M3 makes me feel old
The Cossie makes me feel young
