misfire under boost.
Still having a problem with me escort... 3 symptoms, Im not sure if they are related or not, so here it goes:
-fast idle when warm...almost 1800rpm!!! new idle solenoid didnt fix it, exact same symptoms. However when I unplug it, the idle returns to normal
-Kind of flat throttle the whole way unless wide open and boost builds.
-Once on boost in the higher rpm's, It seems to skip...
I just put in new wires, cap/rotor and plugs, and no difference.
Any tips for any of these?!?!
thanks!

Hi, I had this problem with my big turbo escos not long ago... turned out to be a sync problem with the phase sensor (in the dizzy) and the crank position sensor...
I replaced both but then found out if was the plug on the phase sensor so cut it off and fitted a new one, now she runs sweet as a nut...
your problems are nearly identical to the problems i had - let us know how you get on!

Thanks guys for the great info, Ill look at it this weekend!!!
AS for the phase sensor connector on the dizzy, is it easy to find? It the only connector?
I did check the plugs, it was the first thing I did, they are OK. Even replaced them and zero change.

yeh, and check the gaps on the phase snesor and tdc sensors,
phase (in dizzy ) should be 0.2-0.3 mm
tdc on bottom pulley should be 0.6-0.7mm
another MAJOR problem with electrical problems on big turbos are the dreaded multiplugs behind the headlight that join the car loom to the engine loom, they gat water in them and get corroded and all sorts of wierd sh1t hapens, most people (me included) have cut them out and soldered each wire individualy to eliminate any problems there,
one point that sounds familiar is the fast idle, has teh throttle sensor been ajusted latlety? it should sit exactly ahlf way along its elongated holes which gives a voltage back at teh ecu with the ignition on of 0.25-3 volts dc across pins 17 and 11.
cheers, dave.

not necessarily, if the tps signal is dragged out due to high resistance, it can affect the readin gthe ecu sees which can and does make it revv too fast at idle, if you ajsut th e tps round towards the more open end, it kicks open the iscv and revs at about 1800 after abuot 10 seconds after starting up.

mxquatro... another problem i've had in the past which just poped into my mind, this also caused the type of symptoms your talking about - an air leak.
I had an escy running a stage 3 conversion, the inlet plenum was loose damaging the gasket therefore drawing air in, the ecu was leaning the mixture off causing a misfire under boost and also very rough idle, i took the plugs out and they were very clean (not good). A new plenum to cylinder head gasket sorted it (about Ł3 from a cossie parts dealer).
Might be worth a look as well? most misfire problems as usually a cheap fix but a bastard to find - let us know how you get on.
