3 bar MAP sensor
Hi everyone...
Just need some information regarding tuning the ford escort cosworth to gain more hp..
I have seen the most common mods is by getting -31 actuator, 803 dark green injector, fuel pump and 3 bar MAP sensor, then increase the boost.
My question is : if I already use a haltech (fully programmable aftermarket ecu) to replace the standard ECU and already installing a haltech boost control solenoid to increase the boost to 1.3 BAR, do I still need to get the 3 bar MAP sensor? ( I mean does the 3 bar MAP sensor only necessary if I still use a standard ecu and using a chip to increase the boost )
Hope to get great informations...thank you...

Yes if your aftermarket ECU is compatiable with it, if not how is your ECU going to know what the boost pressure is? The restriction is in the hardware itself, i.e. the standard 2.5 BAR MAP sensor in the Escos case cannot sense the extra boost pressure, hence why a 3 BAR is needed.

i also use a haltech ps1000 and sure you have to use a map sensor! the internal one is an 2,5bar, so if you´re going over 1,5bar boost you´ll need a 3 bar sensor. i´m using the standard 3 bar gm sensor!
