is there no receipts to show what owrk has been done / chip fitted etc?

generally a set of greens are speced with a 3 bar map sensor - UNLESS its the GGR setup that retains the factory escos 2.5 bar unit that runs in greens.

a loss of power at 4K sounds like its in limp mode - which the ecu drops back to to protect the engine if it detects a faulty sensor. usually suspects are lambda probe or ECT sensor. but if it hasn't yet had the multiplugs that join the car harness to the engine loom behind the passenger headlight - these can cause all sorts fo problems - most people chop them out and solder each wire with heatshrink over the top.

how long since it has it had a full service inc fuel filter and plugs ? may be worth chaning these cheap items as you then know they are fresh.

does it mis fire and pop at 4K or just feel like the power drops away?

You NEED to know what spec it is, ie who's chip it is first, but a fuelling check would be a wise move at the least after you have done all the basic servicing items, especially fuel side of things.

first check id do is the plugs, what sort of gap and make of plugs are you using? could be something as simple as a misfire due to the plugs

thanks for all advice. ive got 2 new sets of plugs ngk's and a set from ford motocraft but they are stamped denso. dont know what would be the best set 2 put in and not sure of the gap ive heard it should be 1 or .7 if car has been tuned.
i also noticed the boost had been turned all the way up so turned it down. i think this definetly helped it a little but still not sorted problem.

if you aren't rubbing coilpack ignition , ie still on the dizzy - you will need to gap the plugs down to around 0.6mm.

the plugs ford will have supplied should be AGPR12PP8 - these are ok upto stg 1 ( 280 brake) and are very smooth at idle. but anything above that they run dangerously hot and have ben known to melt the tips resulting in lunched engine. i''d put some motorcraft 071C's in - they are cheap and run fine.

the missing for a coulpe of mins sounds ominous - could be a failed headgasket - or porous head - letting coolant leak into one of the cylinders when you switch it off.

if you whip the plugs out - one plug will be a lot cleaner than the others as it will have been steam cleaned for 2 mins each time you've started it if it is water ingress.
