Default Wont rev past 4k

My large turbo escort has stopped revving past 4k, be it accelerating hard or just gently. It has new leads, plugs, rotor arm and cap. Any ideas guys (and girls). Thanks

It's in limp home mode. Could be a faulty sensor somewhere.....

definately a faulty sensor, the std large turbo escos ECU forces a 4K limit when it detects a fault. favourites are the lambda sensor and/or multiplug connectors which join the engine to the car loom near the fornt of the engine bay gehind the headlight. these get water in them and go corroded and cause all manner of gremlins, i removed my connector all together and soldered the wires together, many other shave done this also.

When you changed the rotor arm and replaced the distributor cap, are you sure you didn’t disturb the two plugs by the side of the distributor. These are for the knock and TDC sensor (I think). If these are unplugged or loose it might be the cause of your problems. Failing that, get it down to a garage who can read the fault codes stored in your ECU.
