want to do santa pod to see how it comepares to the real deal
Might impress, but comparing a fwd with a 4wd will still be wrong...
I've had a 300bhp fwd car before I got the Escort, and there is no way you can compare two cars like that.
And what do you mean your car will have a lot more parts than genuine Cosworths?

I can only talk for myself here, but I wouldnt want one as it would look like a replica. Most people see the car driving past, and you'd have a big part, the part most people recognise the car by, in the wrong colour. The only colour Escort Cosworth that could get away with a big part like that in carbon would be black IMO.
I wouldnt fit one to my white one if I was given it for free, and as quite a few of you know, I love my carbon. But that doesnt mean replacing everything with it will look good...

i have just gone out and taken apart my cosworth, great fun..... not

would much rather just pay the money and have the real deal than mess around with adding parts to a car that at the end of the day, is never going to be worth anything

It may well have been a better idea to have posted a 'show us your rep' thread in the video/photoshop/pictures section rather than in the lions den that is the escort cosworth section. Its a well known fact that a lot of genuine escos owners hate reps. I had a large amount of respect and admiration for escort cosworth owners but some of that has gone after reading 'some' of the comments in this thread.

Also, fair play for building what i consider to be a very good rep. I hope some of the comments in here haven't put you or any of the other rep owners off off finishing their projects.

piece out..................

You are talking out of your hoop mate, a 3 door cossie IS an RS 500, nothing different except bolt on parts that are piss easy to change, and the car is essentially the same bar a few mods such as T4, 8 injector rail etc. If you have a 3 door then you still have a Cosworth, NOT a Cosworth replica with an incorrect set of running gear and dimensionally totally different

So in your eyes a Cosworth normally fitted with a 205 block is a replica if you swap the engine for one with a 200 block?

right there is what i dont get! you spend 300 pound a week on bits. i dont even earn that a week.you have a spoiler worth 1k on a rep.and you are spunking money on booze.

if you were to save all that you really arent far from a real one mate

and you couldve had a saff by now.and been getting important experience in a real cossie and the insurance history on a perfomance car

There where some things you could tell it was not genuine, Rear wings did not meet lower spoiler, no gauges showing boost, oil etc.
You will get alot of people stopping to look and ask if its real. Most did think it was real.
Some pics to give you a idea.

if people had to ask if that was real they must of been thick as fuck

pmsl at 155lee. contradict yourself mate. if you are bothered about an rs500 not being classed as a 3dr because the rear beam is different, the block is different, the bumpers are different etc etc how can you say the escort cos is a basic escort cos shell? do you know how many panels are the same as the basic car? why do you think they are 12k upward and an rs2k etc isnt?

bullet, its just the roof aint it thats from the original escort?

The escos is a special car and is not like any escort that came of the production line.

a real owner knows this

There some complete pricks here.
The guy for starters wanted to see some reps to get ideas, what they had done to their rep.
Not for anyone fucking opinion on them.

u know something aswell ive owned a sierra sapphire cosworth 4x4 425bhp so i have owned a cossie but when me an the mrs moved into a house we had to down grade i wanted a genuine escos after the saph but sircumstances prohibited that but i can tell u this much if and ahen i do get a cossie i wont be bitter towards lads with reps

a 3 door is a 3 door,an rs500 is a SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION of the 3 door with different rear beam mounts, block, plenum, bumpers and spoiler, thats why they cost a lot more.anyway 3 doors aside you are obviously too thick to see the point im trying to make so ill leave it at that, least the replicas wont go rusty around the petrol flap as itll be fibreglass, thats 1 advantage of a rep!

Every model has their top of the range, and if someone cant afford the real thing there gonna make a rep regardless. People have been doing reps for years.

I think some reps are nice, All depending on skills, resources and funds

Exactly someone has seen my point I remember the Focus Rs, everyone liked it because it was nice, It was built to a high standard. But it was still a rep at the end of the day.

I remember everyone liked the Cossie rep used in the greenlight insurance Ad.

Its like saying a mk2 RS2000 REP rubbish because its not the real deal.
I don't think anyone going to say its rubbish.

pmsl.was i rude to you in anyway? no.

you dont know me at all,yet me having an opinion on the way you were trying to get people to see your point makes you insult me. lol never mind mate i wont hold it against you.

my point was that there is a 3dr cosworth of which they made the rs500 a far improved ltd edition done for motorsport reasons.
remember they also did a 1.3 and 1.6 3dr,so does that make the cossie and 500 the same as a basic 1.3?
the escort cosworth is the 500 of the escort name.it is THE special one. so how can you say its just a basic 3dr escort?

all the expensive cosworth bits ive bought will be kept to go on a genuine cosworth when i get one, the rest will be split.. but for now this is a project and whatever happens happens

im not going to comment on this thread anymore its gone way ott and that not aimed at you (bullet) but in general

it seems to me reps make there owners more happy as they have made it to what it is, taken the time and effort to make it right and perfect it, then when its done they drive it every day attracting the looks and respect of other motorists day in day out

genuine cosworth owners keep them locked up untill the odd sunny day which i can understand but its not where it should be in my eyes, it should be on the road making its presence aware

but all this bickering doesnt do anything for me my replys can be quoted as many times as they want to get me to bite but from now on im not going to reply to this thread.

thats fair enough matey.we all have opinions and views. just some people cant take it.
i cant save for toffee's either. thats why i have always had loans in the past. i have to pay a certain amount for a certain time and i dont notice it.but if its cash sitting there i splash.

im glad you didnt take offence to anything i said.i was trying not to be patronising.and also used the smilies so you knew i wasnt being a cock to you.

To the rep owners getting rather touchy here, go back to the first page and see who started the discussion genuine vs replica. Its you guys with the reps saying that genuine ones are unreliable etc etc. Do you really think you can just come on here and more or less say genuine Escort Cosworths are unreliable and the owners are snobs and so on without any debate? Last time I checked this was the Escort Cosworth room on a public forum.
Personally I dont care what you lot drive or what it looks like, but when you start talking nonsense about the genuine ones that you obviously have no facts to back up with I will get defensive. Like most of the other owners on here.
If you're going to tell me Im a snob or whatever then why dont you do it in person? Didnt have anyone come say anything like that when I drove the cars that apparently never get used from Norway to Ford Fair...

How long do you think it will take you to complete your project?
Genuine question!
And do you have a car at the moment etc (other then the project)

Just thinking out loud...
But if you're spending 300 quid a week on parts, thats over 15 and a half grand in a year you're spending on car parts...
Add that to what you've got already, and I would seriously have a think if I were you..
Yes - insurance will be horrendous, but take into account the money you could recoup from the project thus far, and the savings, and i'd say within 8 months or so you could be in a genuine Escos!

I know what I'd do... (and did for that matter. I was going to build a zetec turbo engine for an xr2 that I had bought... Got rid of the xr2, sacked the ZT idea off, and saved like an absolute cunt for 6 months. Et voila - one escos cosworth)

the only way i could probably get a genuine escos is if there was anywhere that does them on finance and the re-payments wasnt earth shattering does any1 know of any such places i know i can insure 1 thats not a problem just cant shell out 10,000+ or ever could

anyones help would be very appreciated thanks
