What intercoolers did the Factory cars use for tarmac rallying ? I see a lot of people using the really large alloy ones, but did Ford themselves use this type or just an improved standard one ?

Has anyone noticed a considerable difference with a large alloy one, particularly using a 34mm restrictor ?
My car has a big alloy RS500 one at the moment and its been recommended to me to change back to a standard one to reduce turbo lag.
I may just see if I can find a cheap standard one and do a back to back test.

I can't imagine you noticing much difference in lag, as the volume isn't that much greater, the extra efficiency is gained in surface area.....
As mike says, if its a decent spec cooler, then you shouldn't notice any difference, what spec of turbo and management do you run on the car?
