My car has a big alloy RS500 one at the moment and its been recommended to me to change back to a standard one to reduce turbo lag.
I may just see if I can find a cheap standard one and do a back to back test.
Depending on which make of RS500 one you have, I would retain this. There is a significant improvement over air charge temps with the larger one than the ickle Ford one.
I can't imagine you noticing much difference in lag, as the volume isn't that much greater, the extra efficiency is gained in surface area.....
