hey.
my brother(tore_tj) has just bougt a escos and is now driving it from bergen(norway) and home. only problem is the car has started to cut on boost. he has tried to disconnect the amalvalve, but no improvment. if he puts the throttle careful to the ground then it seams almost fine, but still cuts a little bit.
any sugestions?

Yes deffo sounds like boost cut or plug gaps
there are several reasons.
its colder at night so makes more boost which can push it over the limit, its prob running
at the limit...
plug gaps set too wide, and its blowing out the spark
plugs not up to the job, breaking down under the heat.
but usually is it goes ok under normal excelleration, then its probthe boost.
dont disconnect the amal valve as the engine needs it to regualte the boost.
i might over boost run lean and melt a piston, then GAME OVER !!!
what stage of tune is it ??

ok. he will try some new plugs then. there is also missing a pipe on the amal valve. the left one, standing in front of the car looking down in the engine bay. could this have someting to do with it? he just noticed it.

have tried to adjust the gap on the plugs now, but the car is still the same(actually a little worse). cuts at 4k rpm every time. the car strugles a lot when "hillclimbing"(sorry, bad english
)
)
Is the escos amal valve the other way round to a sierra as its the right side pipe that goes to the airbox.
To be sure mate i would double check this, the amal valve is marked with letters on each pipe.
Also dont think the ecu has a limp mode on cossies.
Good luck. steve

deffo sounds like boost cut to me.my friends escos was doing exavt same thing and hes now had it on the rollers and boost turned back a touch and all ok now.
his was doing it at just over 3000rpm tho.is the boost guage on the bannana pod going up and over the 1.3bar max? as my mates was and just clipping the boost cut.

Hi. Thanks for the replies. I lost my license.. Guess I'm cursed with this car. On the bright side I now have six months to get the car how I want it. Bit depressed lol. The dreamcar turned out to be a nightmare.

the car is just falling apart.. abs-unit is playing up and the rear hatch is lose for some reason.. rust around filler cap and through the back of the trunk. Regarding the performance of the engine, the car needs much cranking to fire.. 10 seconds isn't unusual. if it fires at all..

lots of cranking and then running in limp mode (P8 escos do have limp mode) could be the bottom crank sensor. but more than likely if it hasn't already been done.... the 2 car loom to engine loom multiplugs at the front of the engine, right under the bonnet vent. these get full of water, ocrrode the pins inside and then all sorts of wierd stuff happens. you need to cut these out and solder them together 1 wire at a time and then insulate them , about 2 hrs work.
