Default 18" Wheels

Hiya just new to site, Two Questions:

1. I have just bought 96' Esc Cossie and am looking to fit 18" Rondell Alloys or AZEV A's (still undecided), what size tyres should i use and will they go straight on.?

2. My 96' Esc Cossie is in Auralis Blue and only 11k miles, literally brand new, I know i am going to change the wheels but as it is completley std should i get it chipped, new exhaust etc.... or leave the baby alone.?

All opinions much appreciated.

18's go striaght on with 225/40/18 or 225/35/18 if you are going to slam it.
P.s. nice colour choice.
I have modified mine loads and it is up to you if you 're gonna do it or not.
I would say though, keep all the original parts, and reciepts from the new bit you buy, as a record so it's resale value will not be effected!
Chip, exhaust (no cats) and air filter for sure. If you need any bits, ask me as I keep that sort of stuff in stock.
Rondells are not made anymore, azevs are cool again if you need, I do
There are loads of other styles to go for now aswell

CheeRS for the reply, My mate is selling the Rondells, but everyone seems to have em! so probably go for AZEV, Someone did mention that you are supposed to use different size tyres on front and back e.g 225/40 front, 225/35 back or the other way round I literally dont know much about tyres, but is this right? The car is only really for weekend use and not driven that hard so I dont suppose it matters which size i use! 225/40/18 probably be ok.
If when car goes for MOT if i go for say a magnex exhaust without CAT would i need to put standard one back on for it test? and finally how much would a set of 18" AZEV A be with tyres?

CheeRS for all your help again.

nnnnooooo the tyre sizes MUST be the same!
I have magnex on mine and it is perfect really, although maybe not as awesomely sounding exhaust available.
225/40/18 has and always will be the best size for the Esc. cos as it is also the best priced 18'' tyre as well
You are looking at around £1300 as a package price (8.5''x18) but that really depends on the tyre brand. I would recommend Yokohama AVS sport on that. That's the quote with them on it by the way!
Azev have just re-newed th mould so them 'A's are going to be
Going for a slightly cheaper tyre such as Hankook K104, you are looking around £1200 and Eagle F1 goodyears apx £1275.

Hiya, Will magnex be ok for MOT? Had a magnex before on my S1 and was well impressed What do you mean renewed the mould? & have you got web-site? also how much for P&P for them?

After a while the moulds they make wheels in become worn, chipped and generally not very good, so they have to be re-newed every 5 years or so.
Azev have just done the 'a' mould so the finish on the wheels will be perfect and smoother.
P&p depends where you are but is generally FOC
All prices inc. VAT.
I have a web site but it is shit
Magnex do 2 systems 1 with cat, 1 without the one with NO cats will fail the MOT so you're better off getting a years ticket 1st, then getting one.

Ok, Cheers mate, will count the pennies up
Is it worth going for the Non - CAT one and changing the pipe every year, or do you reckon one with CAT is just as good????? (do they sound they same as well? )
BTW are they the same cost?

Thanks again

Sorry been busy.
Right the magnex is only available as a CAT REPLACEMENT system on the small (but better) turbo! The large turbo model you get the option of both for some reason.
We have the system in stock @ £305 inc. VAT & P&P.
Very nice it is too!
I would now personally go for the mongoose as it sounds much better.
There are loads of places to get MOT where they don't test emmissions

Hi Mate id put the 18s on and get yourself a set of koni adjustables to lower the car by 25mm or 30mm.Get yourself a mongoose as cossymad says and then leave it a while and see how you like it.Your next option is wether to chip it or not.If you go for a stage1 chip you should get roughly 260/270bhp.If you want more power your gona have to upgrade the fuel pump and get a stage2 turbo and maybe a graham goode 305bhp capsule/chip.Your getting into alot of money now so maybe just chip it stage1 and fit some big brakes and get yourself some twin headlamps and clear indicator(copy cossymads car ).The car will now look as though it has 500bhp and everyone will stare.Job done id say.

PROX your rolling radius is ALMOST the same but obviously you have had no problem's so I'll stand corrected Generally though I would always run same on 4wd, to be safe!
Speedy -the ride is not too bad considering the 35 profile tyres, but I did n't run a conventional set up, on the coil overs. Originally I had coil overs all round, but this was too harsh for my 'used everyday family saloon' so I swapped for coil-over fronts with fixed (but shorter rears)
The units are a cross between Bilstein, H&R, and GAZ. I sell them all, so I just got certain bits remade, refilled and the spring poundage altered, for a awesome handling, yet not too bad a ride.
The roads here are sh*t , but I don't know what they are like over there soI can't say what 'll be perfect.
All I know is mine is perfect for me
I guess as a stage 1 chip it is pretty much even stevens for who to go with.
I had a superchip, but that kept hitting the boost limiter on my slightly bigger turbo so I got a new chip reproggrammed to my spec, by Collins. Since then no problems!

It all comes down to money B4XTA.Your car sounds mint so get yourself a stage1 chip and a -31 actuator and then splash your cash on the wheels and big brakes then get some stainless steel stuff from Lee at fusion and you will have a right looker. To get the same power as cossymad your gona have to buy a stage2 turbo and uprate the fuel pump then the ggr conversion is about £700 but you could do that at a later stage.

@B4XTA, sorry to take over your post m8.

@Cossiemad,

Really really nice car m8.
Which tyres are you running, ie size and make?
I"ve been playing with the idea of getting some 19"s but I'm unsure considering Belgian laws.
Roads are hell over here but I don't mind. Last year I only did about 1750miles so doens't matter too much to me.

Has anyone had any problems with 18" alloys with a 225/40/18 tyre on them with an ET25 offset being very close to the strut?
I now know of 3 different people all with this problem

Any advice?

Close is OK, touching is BAD!
Don't worry too much we fit wheels and tyres all day long and sometimes you can't even get a fag paper between the tyre & strutt!
If you are concerned I do prper ESC cos spacers which locate and I GUARENTEE!!!!
5mm is all you'll need!

ok m8,

My own car is about 5mm or slightly more away, but one of the others I know has actually rubbed right through his tyre and hes dropped down to 35's on the front and now has finger space between them.

How much are the spacers you sell?
