I will never forget picking my escort up one evening in june 2003, it was in london nearly 300 miles away, picked it up then filled it with fuel nearby and felt like a king with everyone looking at it in thre petrol station, was a lovely warm evening so had to use the aircon which worked a treat..

Fookin Great M8 !
Althought i still had my saph cossie at the time, i still did not sleep much the night before.
We left silly early and i was there an hour before the guy got to the workshop...
Althought i trailored it home, i could not wait to get home and take it for a Blast! Once i had fully checked it over.

that had been in there for ages, it felt fast but just not like a cossie should go.
So a quick call to Stu @ MSD and a new chip and actuator was on its way
Once i had put it in and set the Boost OMG !!..
Then it felt like a Real Cossie
I think tho they do feel slower than a Saph or 3 Door, but look at the speedo and you know it aint!

Mine was weird, i sent my GF up to scotland to pick it up, i had to work (nights) She flew up to edinburgh and i went to work, all day at work we were finding out how far away eachother was from, me finishing work and her getting back, in the end i got home at 4am and i remember standing in the street waiting for it, she phoned and said she was 10mins away. In the end i could hear it and then i got very excited. she took me out in it for 10mins but then i had to go back to bed, cos i was due back in work which was very hard.

I had to tow mine for well over 100 miles on a trailer behind my XR4x4 to get it home and it's been stuck in the garage since
Serious question though, what do they drive like compared to a Sapphire Cosworth ? I have assumed they are much the same ?

I bought it from Ranj for a reasonable price and have been collecting parts ever since!

i own a 4x4 saff and have driven a few escorts.they are a very different drive imo. the escort is so much better round the corners, just feels better tbh.
i love the saffs though too.

For those knocking the standard car surley it depends what you've driven before. A stage 3 would seem slow compared to other cars u can buy.
But we don't buy them just for speed do we.....Lol.

Amazing, after having a 2wd Saff it did feel a bit slow but as it was 20,000 miles it still felt new, the BEST thing ever was having a MAD stage 4 done by Mark, I remember pulling out of his old road and giving it some and it was f**king amazing , the bonnet lifted up to the sky and I had the biggest smile ever, when I pulled in at the petrol station my mate said it looked like it was going to take off from in front, I was running standard wheels suspension etc

Hello Chaps
I towed mine home too! I bought it from the back of a Mercedes garage in London. My Dad worked there and it belonged to one of the apprentices.
Luckily we had a C320 V6 Merc at the time, my Dad was driving the Merc and I was in the Cossie. We were doing over 90 at one point, we only had an old tow rope.
I had to put seat covers in the car as well, because the trim was so bad! The young lad had truly neglected it!
The following day we set about stripping it completely, it then took about a year and a half before I actually got to drive it properly! It was well worth the wait though!
I took it out for a quick spin the other night, just to blow the cobwebs off as it had been sitting in the garage as the weather has been so bad.
I'm still truly impressed everytime I get in, I think it was even better the other night because the air was so cold and damp! Perfect!
I get to drive the full Vauxhall range, Astra VXRs, VXR8s, Monaros etc but they maybe newer, quicker and probably more reliable the cossie still puts the biggest smile on my face
Cheers

my first one was standardish and bought in slough
i had to drive back to cheshire in it 200 miles or so but didn't care
as it was what i had always wanted and was in minty mint condition
filling it up with juice was a pleasure but the thing that sticks in my
mind was looking at the spoilers in the rear view and how wide the
arches are in the side mirrors.
you really notice the spoilers and arches when driving
my second one came from northampton the home of Cosworth
so i was expecting a good one,and it was CheeRS

If all the owners here can still remember how they felt, then it must be a pretty amazing feeling!!!
I had to bring mine back to life before I even heard the engine run and I was on a deadline as I needed to have it running before new years day! Got it to start, tested and taxed on new years eve.........
And surprised the hell out of my parents when I went to pick them up on New Years Day!!! They had no idea, I'd kept it a secret from them for 3 months....... I was driving a Daihatsu Charade at the time
enjoy the moment!!!
I still feel the excitement every time I see after a long spell away!!!

I -flew down to Swindon to buy mine and drove it the 340 miles back to Scotland, luved every minute of the drive home, it was the wee silly things that kept getting me, looking in the rear view mirror and seeing the spoiler, and watching the boost and oil pressure guages like a hawk the whole journey home
On the test drive before i parted with the cash, I was shaking like a leaf ( excitment I guess) , Yes good experience for me , the buzz looking out the petrol station window after refueling it and thinking " fook me, thats mine"
Hope you have a similar experience mate

I remember leaving Carlos house after I bought his Auralis one off him. The drive home's only about 15 mins and the clutch on that one was really heavy, sitting in traffic waiting to pull out at a roundabout and my eyes were like dinner plates and my left leg's like jelly I was soooo shakey. Then I got it lit, and it was great. Just what I wanted

TBH, I had a double feeling....
I've swapped my Saff 4x4 345 + BHP / 560+ Nm for a complete STOCK small turbo Escort...
It really was my dream car, and on the otherside I didn't care about the power, I bought that car for the looks.
But then, when I drove it on the highway, and put the pedal to the floor, I was a bit dissappointed
But hey...the looks are so much better......

i brought mine 8 years ago and i will never forget that drive home for the rest of my life i remember getting stuck in slow moving traffic on the motoway which would normally piss me off but when you drive a cossie you get a buzz if you drive it fast or slow, just wish i could drive it more often but then if i drove it every day it might loose some of its appeal

my first impression was, "Damn, I'm going to be skint for a long while", the car was in a bad shape when I bought it, and 3 years down the line, I'm still pouring money into it! It's like flushing money down the loo
However, after a good polish and standing there having a fag staring at it, you can't help but feel proud.
