Default Propshaft Problems.....

Hi, I'm just wondering if a 2wd prop, say off a Saph/Sierra will fit directly inplace of the 4x4 Escort one??

Is there any difference in length, diameter, bolting arrangement etc as the cars use a different gearbox and diff.

Any help is very greatfully recieved

Tom

the 2wd prop is about 11 inches longer than the 4wd prop on the sierra

wit ht e escos being another 7 inches shorter you will need to find out how to get rid of 18 inches worth of prop in order to get the 2wd version onto the escos mate

on the other hand, the rear props on the sierra's share the rear part with every other sierra, it's the fron bi that differs so perhaps a bit of mixed and matching might do the trick?

would need to be babalnaced afterwards thoguh

im guessing you have a problem with your current prop?

surely it would be easier and less hassle to source a new prob that is made to fit from factory from one of the breakers on the board, rather than cutting and shutting and getting it rebalanced etc

Yes indeed, but my thinking at the moment is to change the whole rear beam to a 2wd one so I can run the bigger diff 7.5"

And then in future change the rest to 2wd spec.

So would I need to change the propshaft or not IF I go down this route???
