Yep this is my first cossie, I thought Id do it properly.
The shell was built in 92 and stored, the rest was done in 1999 by r.e.d developments.
This is going to be as close to rally spec as I can get, but i'm gona drive it on the road, maybe the odd track day.
I've got a mk2 rs2000 and a mk5 2L fiesta to play with so it's not a daily driver, gona go a bit mad.

that stands for Rally Engineering Development. Widnes Cheshire
they still have the trophys for loads of the cars they built that won
rallys, they may be able to shed some info on your car Alo
R-E-D used to call themselves The Cosworth Specialists
if you win rally championships its fair to say you know what your
doing, and their cars were very well made

have just spoken to someone regards R-E-D.
it seems they are still going but not from Widnes.
they were owned by Geoff Fielding back then, but now are not
i was told they are doing bodyshells for M-SPORT for the WRC
I don't know if its just Neil Gatt who owns it but its not the same team
any more, but doing bodyshells for the World Champions isn't bad

cozzfather Cheers for that, I couldn't get anything on r-e-d, now I know why.
I not too fussed If I can't get much history, It's got a msa log book and a build date and number on the fuel tank so I'm happy.
It's all good

It's been a while since I've done an update but all is well.
Just bought yum's old gt35. Having an engine inspected at the minute.
If I get the thumbs up I Would like a high compression engine to keep it less laggy. But don't want to risk a melt down. Will have to see......
Still need brakes, gearbox and ancill's but we're getting there now.

Inside is in paint now, the rest of the car should be painted by next weekend.
Have decided diamond white is a bit too dull, gone for something new.
Engine's nearly done, just waiting on the head.

The tank re built and ready to be fastened down.
Build date for the tank
Cut off switch back in place
Started work on the light weight dash(no glove box)with added GO button
Still needs some refinement. I'm not having a heater box, so I can lose the the control panel. Will make a carbon fiber panel to have a large boost gauge

I can't get it to fit matt........ There's a brace going across the bulk head and it fouls on the blower, you can see in one of the pics further up.
Heated screens will have to do. Winter use will be minimal.
Theres a few things that can't be used because of the cage. That and window winders don't clear the door bars. Electric windows needed.

Ah yes just saw that mate. I know group A sapphires used special heater box (proper 909 item) and ATM are selling one at the moment I think, but I don't think it can be mounted on the escort.
