Default Kidney box - question

Hi Guys,

Those of you who have got aftermarket breathers fitted, what have you done with the kidney box, and associated pipework...
I've got fitted that can go in where the kindney box was, but, i'm at a loss as to what happens to the rest of teh pipework etc... - previosuly the kindey box was left in place, but i'm guessing it should be removed (and whilst the inlet is off, this seems like the prefcet time?)

Hi Rolls

When i did mine i used the bottom section of the kidney box pipe that goes into the block i had to cut it flush with the bottom of the flame trap and used it to put the pipe in the bailey kit into as the pipe in the bailey kit was too narrow and would have fallen into the block. Then i put that back into the block with some light sealant around it. The large pipe to my breather then went straight onto this. In the bailey kit i got a small blank to put onto the inside face of the inlet plenum as there used to be a pipe to this from the vapour pot that lives on the chassis rail, mine currently has a one way vac on it whilst its disconnected but ive been advised to re-fit this onto the plenum to allow the vapours to re-enter the plenum and thats on my jobs list this winter. Not sure how different large turbo is to small on the pipework that needs to be removed but i know when i did mine i removed a large black pipe that runs round the back of the block and down under the inlet side

hope ive helped a bit mate

Sounds about right mate - its the little pipe that comes from under something next to the map sensor that i'm slightly confused by - but by the looks of things you've left this off... - anyone else?

Cheers for the help btw

Ok, so have you just left the thin pipe that would run to it (not to pipe that runs from the kindey box directly to the inlet)..
Actually, i'm not beng very clear - i'll get a couple of pic's tonight when i get in...

Right then guys - pic's, albeit shite ones...

This we just blank off, according to the above:

And here is the little canister thing that is next to the map sensor, with pipework that would be attached to the inlet via the t-piece you can see in the pic. this is the bit thats confusing me - its the pipe that runs just in front of the map sensor bracket, has a green one way valve in it, that then splits into the 2 other pipes just above the engine mount...
This we just disconnect and leave?:

I understand that the pipe that comes out where the kidney box sat attaches to my breather (-12 IIRC)

pull the smaller pipe off from the green t piece and fit it onto the non return valve which is the bottom fitting in your top pic,it will be a very tight fit,i used silicon hose as its more flexible, this will then allow your fuel purge solenoid to vent back into the i/manifold,the other hose with the green t piece will be discarded when you fit the oil breather set up
