Default Ceramic Discs and more power.

Just wondering if anyone has a high powered cosworth 400bhp/600bhp and have used ceramic discs? If its possible aswell to add 12pot callipers?

The small turbo engine in my car is showing signs of wear, FINALLY i can start to do some mods. I'm looking into getting a tuned 200 block. round about the 450bhp mark. I am wondering if i can still keep the aircon in my car if i change the engine and up the power?

I'm looking to go all out on this car now as the shell is in fantastic condition. So my dream of having a high powered cossie is in process.

Please give me some feed backkkkkk!!!!!!!!

cheeRS guys!!!!

Ceramic Discs i dont have a clue on, The only reaso i can think why people dont bother is either they dont think its needed or just to expensive.

Why do you want 12pot Calipers? Whats wrong with 6 pots?

As for the engine, Pick a tuner you want to use them do what they recomend.

I would have a look around other people spec of cars and what they use them for. This gives you a good idea on what mods to carry out.

Nothing wrong with 6 Pots, just that i want to build my dream cossie. And i would love it to have 12Pots and Ceramic Discs.

I've got 2 Tuners in mind and that Reyland Motorsport and MADevelopments!!! I've decided to go for around 500/600bhp using a newly built YB which i want bored out to 2.2. Also i want to be running a GT35.

I think the last mod i want done to the car is the skyline gearbox. I love the idea of having 4x4 and then at a hit of a switch making it RWD.

I'm willing to work my arse off to achieve the ultimate street cossie.

I think i deserve it LOL i'm 21 finished graduating and am now working as a audio technician for Barbican Theater, They pay me well and i know i can't do it all in one go, i know i'm going to have to be patient about things. I just about paid for the car lol

When i bought it i was working in a department store on weekends and working after my uni lectures so i could by a Escos. My 3rd year i was lucky enough to buy one.

So now the engine is slowly giving up i'm ready to make a mental cossie so i can stand back and be proud b4 my other halfs parents accept me for being indian and allowing me to marry their daughter LOL

I think Tarox used to do ceramic discs but I have no idea if they were any good.

Default Tuners

Hi Fella,

Reading your spec and what you want to obtaim, Cermaic Discs would not be avaiable for the cosworth, although anything can be made to fit your car depaending on what you want to spend.

But the disce wont come cheap, and expect to pay about 2k for a set.
My Father has cermaic disce fitted to his 430. And these cost that much to replace per side.

As for Tuners, to people I would Trust ten fold would be Martin at Reyland and Also Mike Rainbird, you only have to look at the spec on Martins Cossie and you know it is something very special.

Mike to has got a small turbo kicking out some serious bhp so he could give you some very sound advice.

All the best in your quest.

IMO 450-500 on road with correct suspension and brakes and transmission will be fine alot of people spec there car for track and use it on the road 90% of the time.. I for one am specing mine for the road with the option of using on track...

But for what you want you need to be as said looking to spend about 5-10k on transmission maybe more, 10k on engine+parts another 5k on turbo, exhuast, ecu, loom, mapping,dyno...

the spec you after will require 30-40k input..

I'm willing to do it man, i've done what my parents wanted me to do and thats finish my education (you know what indian parents are like and no i'm not a doctor) I've wanted cossie since i was around 7-8 lol i still remember to this day when i first saw one on the A406 going to my uncles in Ilford. Lovely Imperial Blue Cossie and from that day onwards i wanted one lol

so now that i have one i want to make it the way i want it. You know what its like lol

This what i've been thinking, a new YB engine (Gotta get rid of the small turbo engine) and GT30 Turbo. i wanted the GT35 but i don't intend to go over 500bhp for a while. If not 12 pots then it has to be 10 pots lol u can see i'm a picky lil bastard lol

If you really want 12 pot brakes try contacting PumaBuild i think they do a kit for the Focus ST. I am sure then can get it altered so its fits your car.

Theres nothing wrong with the small turbo engine, infact i dont think theres fuck all difference to that and the Big turbo. Just the management, Sensors etc, smaller turbo, and Cam cover that are different.

You block and head if in good condition would be good to use as a base for your new engine. 2.2 if more than just boring out, I think you need a new crank, rods, and pistons i could be wrong am sure someone will correct me if i am.

Good luck with the build. Sounds like you know what you want and hope you get it.

cheers mate, thanks for the advice, i guess its just i prefere the YB engine to the Small turbo. The YB looks awesome once its chromed + i've decided to keep it a 2.0L, just going to have the engine made stronger than it should be for what BHP i want because i know later on i will proberbly want more power, so that'll save me some hassle getting it done again.

but i would love to have ceramic brakes with 12 pots lol least i know the car will be amazing when it comes to pressing the brakes and bringing it to a stand still lol

Do u know if i'd be able to keep the A/C if i have all this done? Cos when it gets hot here i hate going down the motorway with windows down lol

Dont want to seem harsh but you really need to do some more research into what you want from your car ,instead of just spouting thing that are expensive, you mention ceramic brakes and good stopping tbh and i have no experience but these are race/super car brakes.for every day use i would expect these to be a bit unfriendly and more to the point the single most expensive part of the car to maintain.....12pots why the only thing you are gaining is bragging rights. You need to have a good think about what you want, or you will end up with a mix match of part that neither work on the road or track
good luck i think you may need it

I think 12 pots mite be a over kill, just go for a diffrent set up say of a ferrari, porsche etc etc would stand out and still look the bollocks

You really need to talk to me about brakes! You do not need ceramic discs with 12 pots! Most 12 pots are cheapo calipers that are really not worth having. My Escos has Brembo 8 pots front and rear and has enough braking power to slow the car down lap after lap even with the huge speed the car generates. A monster road/track conversion for an Escos would be 378mm 6 pot fronts with 330mm 4 pot rears, I can help with this if needed. BTW yes, you can keep your A/C!

THE MAN HIMSELF lol I was deciding on a tuner yesterday night and i just thought it has to be Martin Reyland!!! So now i'm going to listen to you lol How much would i be looking at for a newly built 500bhp Blue Top engine, 8 or 10 pots all around and the skyline gearbox?

I need to set monthly targets and of course sort the finances out so i can get all this done!!!

Cheers Martin!!!
