Default rear caliper question

hello all

Question for you guys....does the piston in these come out easily or is it threaded and unscrews? i remember discussing this with somebody on here and via pm im sure is was S3an but cant recall it

both of mine are solid and im looking to strip them bare and rebuild them with new seals etc, just need to free up the pistons first

many thanks as ever
Mart

They wind in Martin.

not sure if they come out completely but you wont be able to push it in and out unless you have the relevant wind back tool!

Used snipe nose pliers to do mine, not too difficult but a work around if you don't have the correct tool. Only did mine to replace the pads not fully removing the piston.

if they are stuck solid then you will need the wind back tool to push the piston back first to break the seal
once it's gone all teh way back you can then wind it back out again using the pliers technique
rememebr that they screw in clockwise and screw out anti clockwise, unlike some cars which have different threads for either side caliper

also, when you refir thtme, bleed them without using the handbrake until you get full fluid in them and they have been extended their full working distance by the foot pedal before starting to adjust them on the handbrake
