GreenLight are good, so are HIC, adrian Flux etc. Depending on your age they might insure you or not. Give them a go.
I pay Ł650 limited mileage to 5k/yr, FC with Protected NCB.

Hi Gareth,

We are usually competitive for most cosworth models and can entertain modifications without a problem.

The main thing for us is that the vehicle has to be a performance model, a car that isnt just an a-to-b piece of metal, it's a car that you have pride in and are endeared to. Greenlight view this as a really good moral factor, drivers of the type of vehicles you guys have on PF always look out for their vehicle, watch where they park it etc and generally show far greater care in their car than the average motorist.

Mods wise, if you spend your hard earned to improve your car - this also shows that you are particular about your vehicle and are into your vehicle, which again represents an additional good moral risk.

In addition to the traditional cover that you expect from a comp policy (ie Windscreen, radio, Euro cover, courtesy car) Benefits often also include:

Like for like replacement of damaged/stolen individual modified parts

Agreed value - option for modified vehicles (available on application)

Track Cover - per event 'on-track' cover for your vehicle

Guaranteed Hire Car - Most insurers give a courtesy car for repair, but one of our main Underwriters also gives a hire car if your car is stolen or not-repairable (ie write off).

So, if your renewal's coming up soon, you're thinking of treating yourself to a peformance car, or putting one back on the road and need Insurance cover why not give Greenlight a try.

To apply for a quotation log onto www.greenlightinsurance.com - we'd be happy to help.

Kind regards

Tony

I would highly recommend using Greenlight, as they not only offer very good cover, but they undertstand the mods totally and when you speak to them about your car, it's like talking to fellow petrol heads (which is obviously what they are).

Sometimes they may "appear" to be more expensive than other companies, but you have to ensure that you are getting quoted on a like for like policy basis.....

I've been with Greenlight for around 5 years now due to the above .

You can also try Boncaster the official RSOC insurer, I am with them and they have been great for the past 7 or 8 years

Paul,
I would personally recommend you phoning up Neil or Tony and having a chat with them rather than doing it over the net. They can chat with you and ask you questions that will enable them to get a better idea of how good a risk you are, which will definitely help with the quote . Much better this way than being a "number" .

Well Greenlight was a waste of time as they won't cover it at a value of Ł25K (would cost a lot more then that to replace) so I'll stick to HIC unless Boncaster are anygood

I went through Green light but the Insurance policy is with HIC Think I'll cut out the middle man next time. I was with HIC for 2 yrs & they were spot on then the price jumped A LOT so changed.maybe time to go back in the new year.

Hi Guys,

Just to clarify, Greenlight are a Specialist vehicle brokerage (as are HIC - Herts Insurance).

We DO NOT place business with HIC, they are a competitor of ours.

We DO place business under our own specialist schemes with KGM, Highway, Equity, Chaucer, Zurich.. amongst others.

In the main, the companies that we deal with operate via Brokers only and do not deal directly with the public.

'Cutting out the middle man' is a phrase used by quite a lot of direct writers, but what they miss out is that if they cut out the middle man they need to employ large public facing call centres (which broker only Insurers do not require) and in addition they spend hefty amounts of cash attracting business via the TV advertising - so high acquisition costs apply.

Brokers are paid a fixed commission for cases placed with broker only Insurers, they are impartial and work for you (not the Insurer) as your employee/agent. Whereas Direct Insurers have variable expenses (call centre staff, Large Web based IT presence, hefty TV/Marketing budget) and you are dealing formally with the Insurer (without independent advice) handling your own affairs.

Really it's often a case of 'smoke & mirrors' and media hype, as the 'cut out the middle man' phrase doesnt tell the whole story.

As a consumer you just have to go with what you get (ie. if the cover & price meet your need - go with it, whether it's Direct or via a Broker).

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Paul,

Having just seen your comment within this thread, if you get a few mins can you PM me your postcode/full name/when you applied.

I'll then be able to review the quotation notes both here & with the respective Underwriters we contacted.

Kind regards

Tony
